  1. The question for me is what type of engine are we looking at here?

It seems obvious that at least some (and probably a lot) of assets from FSX are in use here, but I find it hard to believe that MS thinks just bringing FSX up to the level of current third party add-ons is going to generate a desire to purchase from people who already have a significant dollar investment in those previous add-ons.

So what exactly is new here, besides improved textures and maybe some tweaked lighting?

Its a question MS is going to have to answer, and that answer had better be a good one.

MS does not have to answer any question, especially not to the current minority who buys add-ons. What they need to do, is to produce a product that appeals to the masses, runs well and feels good. If they do their job really well, they will also make a great expandable platform (like the current franchise) - and let developers unleash their creativity in superb add-ons, but this time the after marked is a part of their strategy. The MS online store will make it much easier for people to buy and manage add-ons, more people will buy them, but it might seriously hurt companies like Aerosoft - who I guess do a lot of their business as a publisher. In the next round MS will probably become the biggest after marked publisher by a large margin. And while I don't know this, I will guess a lot of external developers previously loyal to Aerosoft will sell directly in the MS store, bypassing Aerosoft.

This would make a stand-alone Aerosoft Flight Simulator a very wise decision, and some competition would not hurt the end customer...

    Just some thought.

  2. Just to be completely clear.

Mega Airport Zurich is complete new internal development by Aerosoft. We know there are others available but we had enough (commercial) reasons to start a new development. We tend to spend little time on what is already available, it is not so important to us, certainly not in the boxed market that many forum readers underestimate. Comments like "Why cannibalize another developer in this small niche" are totally beside the point. We see a market for our project, it is in fact a project without any risk for us. If this niche would be filled by our esteemed competitors that market would not be there. Do note that next to the quality of the product, distribution plays a major role in this. We are able to get our products to the customers.

Also keep in mind that we got a large professional department, that has it's own requirements! It is much easier to have the airports for professional use done internally. Our version will include the new B terminal btw.

I understand the reasons, although i do not like them:) When I posted my post yesterday, I did think about the professional and boxed marked at the back of my head, but I wrote the msg, as a hobby electronic customer of FSDT and Aerosoft.

BTW: Are Aerosoft products used in full motion simulators?

  3. The Zürich on the market is GREAT! Why cannibalize another developer in this small niche? As another person pointed out, there are almost no good Italian sceneries. Why not make an italian airport, Bergamo in the north to fly our Ryanair PMDG NGX into? MAP Rome would also be great!

  4. Thank you. If it is possible to add information that the audio file is not played in the cockpit, maybe Aerosoft should make a patch that reduces the volume inside the cockpit - either by code, or by playing a different version inside the cockpit, with added interior acoustic and a realistic volume.

Just an idea to improve the products.

    Best regards,

    Mikkel E.

Reichert, what do you think about the idea?

  5. If you know which file creates the sound (it's an .fx file in the FSX/effects folder), you can edit it, adding these lines:

    [Properties]

    Spot=1

    Tower=1

That should get rid of the sound effect in cockpit view.

Thank you. If it is possible to add information that the audio file is not played in the cockpit, maybe Aerosoft should make a patch that reduces the volume inside the cockpit - either by code, or by playing a different version inside the cockpit, with added interior acoustic and a realistic volume.

  6. I had the same problem in Gibraltar-X, but went to its utility and un-checked the box for ambient sounds immediately!

Maybe Rotterdam has a similar utility in its folder?

    (I don't know, I don't have it!)

    Regards,

    Peter

Thanks, bought Gibraltar last night and noticed the sound-box. I think you are right. It's probably the same thing.

  7. The ambient sound at some of your airports are also possible to hear inside an aircraft cabin. Even in the cockpit of an MD-11 on short final. Not only is it unrealistic, but also very distracting. I thought the noise were coming from an error/failure in the airplane, and were preparing for a go-around, until I noticed that it was just some ambient sounds at incredible decibels.

Is it possible to remove the custom ambient sounds inside the cockpit, or at least lower it to a realistic level? A little tweak?

    Best regards,

    Mikkel E.

  8. After a long break from flight simming, it's been a pure joy to install Dangerous Airports 1 and I have done some really interesting takeoff and landings. Great idea, great gfx and great challenges. Way to go Aerosoft.

Hope to see more add-ons of this kind.

And to everyone who has not yet bought it, go for it! :)

  9. Well, I didn't upload it. And I was just so astonished that it was online I had to be sure it really was the Aerosoft Airbus. And If nesecerry I will pay 60€ for this bird. I really need it and I will get it legally when it has come out. In the meantime, I have deleted the download from my drive.

And by the way, anyone who has downloaded the file, has helped to spread it further. Actually the person on this forum who admits to have downloaded it, is also guilty of distribution of pirated software, not only personal usage!

  10. Hello,

First I would like to thank the development team for a VERY nice airplane and an interesting add-on! I'm looking forward to the next Simcheck products, maybe an A310, a retrofitted A300 with FMC or an A300-600. Hope we get to see all of them! :=D

    To my question:

When I first get a new aircraft to FS, I try to learn and hand fly them very precisely. For instance, in the last few visual flights - I've drifted at idle from TOD to about 500 AGL. Before I start to learn the systems in detail, I would like to practice cross-wind landings, but where are the charts that show me the maximum allowed cross-wind component?

    Best regards,

    Mikkel E.

  11. Mathijs, what about getting two fly's in one smack?

    1) I guess that _for_ Aerosoft to do the best possible stand alone simulator, atleast doing one advanced airliner would give experience that could strengthen the AS2012 project?

    2) Since I guess alot of us who are interested in advanced airline simulators, are not going to buy an add-on from a bunch of ****ers. There could be a marked for an expansion of your initial airbus, and perhaps a marked for personal satisfaction? I would gladly pay 100$ extra for an advanced version, as well as printed documentation and a nice airbus joystick to go with it. Am I alone?

  12. Well another reason for auto take-off not to be impelmented may be the lack of hands on flying performed by the pilots. Today most of the time pilots would switch on the autopilot as soon as 500 ft in to the air and switching it off again as late as 500ft AGL. Recently this issue is surfacing in aviation world and some people claim that some accidents could have been prevented if the pilots would have had more hands on flying experience. So the reason could be that the pilots are already performing too much flying via switches and knobs instead of yoke/sidestick and thus loosing the feel for the aircraft.

    flyhigh

Hmm, my impression is quite the opposite. That pilots mostly fly by hand and even according to VFR rules when conditions permit, only using the autopilot enroute...

  13. At this moment this product is not on our schedule as it (so far) did not give is the quality we hoped to get.

I'm very interested in French sceneries, and there seems to be some really good ones made by FranceVFR. Unfortunately their websites are in french (unfortunately they did not teach french at my middle school), and their ground texture resolution for many sceneries are not updated to FSX standard yet.

A partnership with Aerosoft for the international marked, would really be appreciated! But I guess this option has been attempted?

  14. I would like to make another point.

Even though one could make such a system it makes very little sense for a number of reasons mentioned already, but if such a system was installed, who should control it? The pilot or the air traffic controller? At most bigger airports, my impression is that the SID's are not that often used, the airplanes are vectored out in the most efficient way by the controller (at Gardermoen for instance they don't even want the pilots to turn on the autopilot before reaching 6000 feet), at smaller airports the SIDs are almost never used, as a direct route is preferred for both saving time and fuel.

I guess you could say that these factors would also apply for landings, but there is a difference, when landing you are at least holding a pre-defined path (the glideslope) for some nautical miles, on takeoff however, pilots often start maneuvering on their own paths after a few seconds in the air.

BTW: My impression is that most pilots often only use the autopilot en-route, handling both depatures, arrivals and landings by hand, if the weather permits.

  15. If it's moving forwards, I can only understand it as the yaw is a bit off, compared to the bank. I guess the only way to get it right is to constantly calibrate the curve with both rudder and ailerons, to both keep the aircraft at the same distance to the tower and have the wing point directly to the tower. But since you mention that you also want to keep the tower at the exact same spot _under_ the wing. I guess you would need to manipulate the speed, as I guess that different speeds will alter the amount of bank you would need to keep the distance to the tower. My FSX computer was left when I went home for Christmas, so I can not check it myself.

  16. Did you know about the aircraft? Or did you use a image search program that uses a sample image as input?

I did not know about the aircraft, but I though that it really did not look like a Piper and not like a Beechcraft. So I got quite curious. First I thought it was French, so I checked all the French GA producers, with no luck. While reading about old GA planes, I finally found a notice about a rare Mooney twin, and a link with a picture, I was quite surprised when I saw that it was the same picture you had used, but it seems like there are only two known pictures of this plane.

No image searching, but some good old research.

  17. Extremely nice!!! I'm looking forward to it a lot, have only been in Innsbruck one time, in transit on a rail journey from Milan to Norway just before Christmas, indeed nice memories. Hope to see more sceneries from the region. Basel b.t.w. is one of my favorite cities in the region, what about a the Mulhouse/Basel Europort, it should be able to attract customers from all the bordering countries?

Would love to see more Swiss and Austrian sceneries, with or without minarets!

  18. One of the old ACES members commented that he got his job back, basically doing the same stuff as he used to do... Maybe he was just talking about modelling or games programming in general, or maybe not?

  19. This is just a licensing agreement which allows Lockheed Martin to develop ESP for their own purposes. That is it. There is nothing interesting as far as us simmers are concerned...

Yes, we can read... Thats not the point though, don't you find it ironic that MS signs new partnerships and license agreements after they sought to kill the product?
