Lol! Many thanks Mr Kok. What a comprehensive explanation.
I am guilty of all the faults that you list - I wondered why I kept falling out of the sky at at EGHE (St Mary's).
All the best

Hello
I was watching a You Tube video describing a 'Beta Descent' on a Pilatus in Papa New Guinea (I think).
It occurred to me that, purely by trial and error, I have been adopting something similar in my Twin Otter to shed altitude when flying to small airstrips in the Himalayas where there is not much room for approach maneuvering. I would put the pitch to minimum (100%) and throttle back and I found that I could descend quickly without gaining too much speed. Then as I approached the airstrip, I could increase the power and land successfully.
So, can you real world pilots tell me, is what I am doing a 'recognized' method of descending in mountainous terrain and is the real-world Twin Otter capable of doing this? Are all prop aircraft able to perform beta descent (or similar)?
I look forward to some 'real word' perspectives.
All the best

Well, I have spent a while exploring the Forum and asking questions, and (as I thought) I am unable to raise a query because the matter relates to a third-party developer.
Don't yell at the messenger Mr Kok, but the Moderator reckons that you can contact Asobo through 'devsupport.flightsimulator.com'

Oh well....
True to my word I have entered into a discussion in the Official Forum. (Where others are also a little exasperated). Let's see what happens.
Thanks for your help and interest.
Best regards

I would be happy to do this Mr Kok, but will Microsoft pay any attention to me?
Does Aerosoft have a 'Developers' Hotline' to Microsoft that could throw some weight behind me?

So, is the consensus opinion that FX2020 does not model the ground handling of the Twin Otter realistically (or thereabouts)?
If so - how is Microsoft made aware of this problem, and what can be done to motivate them to provide a remedy?

Surely, modelling the fuel switch function correctly is only a few lines of code - that is hardly going to break the budget or dent your sim philosophy.
To have the switches working simply provides a more satisfying experience because they are a primary system component.

Thank you Sir - I am indebted to your knowledge as ever.

Thank you for looking - so what does having no procedures imply?
Is it forbidden to land on 9/14 or does one simply use common sense and flying skills?

Hello
Looking at my Jeppesen / Navigraph Scilly Isles chart (EGHE as an example), only Runway 32 and 27 approaches are described.
I was wondering what the status of an approach on the opposite runways might be (Runway 14 runway 9)?
Do you think that Navigraph have simply not published the 14 and 9 charts or are they genuinely unavailable? If the latter, how do pilots manage during 'easterlies'?

Hi
I notice that I can start both engines without having the fuel pumps activated. Were there fuel in the wing tanks i could understand this happening, but these are empty (although I have fuel in the main tanks).
Does this scenario seem likely?

Hi Owen - this is most odd.
Can you tell me, how does one uninstall and reinstall the airfield file? Is it simply a matter of removing the 'aerosoft-airfield-eghc-landsend' folder from the ....\Packages\Official\steam directory (and keeping it somewhere safe)? Is reinstalling it airfield simply a matter of dropping the file back in again?
Many thanks

Hi Owen
That's comforting to know! I was beginning to wonder if it was just me with the problem.

Thanks Tom - can you give me heads up on how to uninstall and reinstall the airfield please?
Should I download the file again (and is that even possible now that I have made a first download?)
(I did try switching the Bing data on and off during my experiments - but no effect).
Thanks for all of your help - I will brace myself to send a ticket.
Kind regards Mike

Hi Tom
I have removed all my addons (2 liveries and Isles of Scilly Airport) from the community folder and deleted the Steam scenery indexes with no success I'm afraid. I have revisited the rolling cache and deleted that again.
It seems strange that the Aerosoft Perrenporth airport (and everything else) seems to look okay - with no hills on the apron.
Do you think that removing and reinstalling might be a solution?
Anyway - that's enough for today. Enjoy your weekend.

I have just tried that and rebooted the computer - but no change I'm afraid.

Hi
I am using Aerosoft's EGHC for the first time and the aprons and terminal buildings are as though they have been built on a roller coaster - it is as thought the 'terrain function' has not been disabled (if that makes sense). The runways are fine and gently follow the terrain.
I loaded EGHC directly from the Steam FS2020 Market Place. Any thoughts?
Best regards Mike Reardon
PS - Perranporth Airfield (EGTP) which I installed at the same time is absolutely fine.

Amazing - but how can he look so cool as well!
(I guess that is why Flight Simming is a hobby where you don't have to look your best).
