I think the A330neo will be great. The headwind, as great as it is is severely lacking - and I know the majority of us give it a free pass because it is that, free. We all know the weights aren't right, the performance of the engines aren't study level, the cockpit is a mish-mash of A320 and A330 cockpit (although similar, are fundamentally different in layout especially the overhead) and is merely patched. It doesn't really satisfy the itch of "I'm simulating an A330neo" it does the "I'm simulating an A320 that's simulating an A330neo". I think not everyone is willing to invest the cash for what will inherently be a marginal amount of improvement for most. But overall, if as-accurate-as-possible is something you care about, I think it'll be leagues above the pretend slap-on a few mods to the FBW and away we go. It also makes the most financial sense to develop upon the platform you already have being the A330ceo, and fleshing out the "family" so to speak.

I just hope this gives us some likelihood of getting a GE variant A330ceo, and possibly a -200 variant as well.

Precisely!  I am all aboard for a NEO.  I just hope the family will continue to be expanded.  The only part of the announcement that concerns me, is the “smaller fish” part as those have been beaten to death.

I think it’s because of the Xbox world.  Us PC folks have a wealth of A320 but I realized the good ones, like Fenix and FBW, you can’t get those on the Xbox.  So still a huge market for them that has not been tapped.

I imagine that is what they are thinking.  But, they are already beaten to the XBox World by LatinVFR for the A318/19/20/21.  They’re not bad at all, considering they are already on the XBox.  Overall, the announcement just doesn’t formulate any excitement, sadly.

Yes, but the sim has a hard limit on what you can see, it needs to cover 1.5% of the screen to be shown. So while you would see ships and oil platforms (certainly at night) from FL380, the sim most likely will not show them.  See why we add a lot of very large tankers?

But that said, if you fly into Amsterdam, London etc you are often at FL100 when you get to the coast.

Would it be possible to make some of the lights on the models a ‘streetlight’, since these are visible at much further ranges?  I don’t know if this would be possible, but really, I just like seeing the lights while at cruise at night.

I created new profiles for all input devices where there is nothing assigned except the throttle axis in my Bravo throttle and the problem persist.

Check the bindings for fuel shutoff as well
