A surprising twist.... Just a month ago, they completed certain development sections ("Engine performance tuning and tweaking is now done!"). Now, nobody knows what the new sim will bring, but you can be damned sure you will redo all that tuning and tweaking. Of course, all developers will have to adapt to the new sim, but everybody knows that even if a sim is backward compatible, you are forced to use all the new features of a simulator to be commercially relevant. So, after the new sim launches, you need to do (or redo, in this case) some of the work you can't do now.  So, as there is no known release date of FS2024 and nobody knows how much adaptation will be needed, you end up with a project with no scheduled release date.

Perhaps the most surprising thing is that the product must cover four different external models, four different cockpits, four different flight models, and four different sound sets. That's not a recipe for an easy-to-schedule project.

    It's a puzzling statement.

That is a very interesting insight from someone who should know it best. I don't understand Aerosoft and its decisions in terms of product development and marketing anymore. Apparently it's not different for you, Mathijs? (I don't expect you to answer that. ;))

  2. While I can't understand the aggressive tone or exaggerations in some of the comments one can read all over the internet, I understand the basic rationale behind it: Aerosoft has fallen very silent in the course of the last year. The A330 seemed pretty close to release, now we get occasional status updates on the new product page, but not the slightest inkling whether the project is close to completion or not. Mathijs Kok left the company, which seems to emphasize that things are not how they used to be at Aerosoft. The CRJ hasn't gotten an update in a long time - and I understand Hans Hartmann's rationale behind it, especially since he was busy with the ATR, but still I can understand customers who would like to see some progress instead of getting "abandonware vibes". Oslo will certainly be another great scenery from Jo Erlend Sund, but completion is also taking a lot of time while there have been other versions on the market for a long time. Then there was the confusion and also mess around the Twin Otter. And heck, it has even been many months since I have been last offered any update for my existing Aerosoft purchases within Aerosoft One.

In total, it has been a long time since Aerosoft reminded us of its role as an important player in the flightsim scene. I get it that Aerosoft and its developers or its partners work on their major projects and those projects take time (and apparently more time than originally expected by large parts of the community or maybe even the developers themselves?). Yes, Aerosoft has released new products also in 2023, but somehow there is never anything that has the "wow" factor or is at least a major landmark, just like the release of the first modern high-fidelity long-haul aircraft for MSFS would be.

So it is very unfortunate, in my view, that Aerosoft is currently cumulating delays and "pieces of silence" (for the lack of a better word) instead of still reminding us that they are still a present force in the world of flight simulation. I hope that 2024 will change something for the better, but 2023 really wasn't the best year for Aerosoft or those who still expect something from this company.

    I will investigate.

Thanks, Mathijs, meanwhile I have figured out a way how to bring new NDP data to the PMDG 737 (for MSFS) and the Fenix A320 - described here. But still, it would be nice if you could implement two entries for both airplanes in the next updated version of the NavDataPro client. Thanks!

  4. Thanks for the instruction, @Jan-Paul Schuchna - that worked for the PMDG 737-700!

I have also tried to bring up-to-date NavDataPro data to the Fenix A320. After some trying, I found the correct way: I chose the "ProSimA320 ver 1.28b4 (and newer)" entry and pointed that to the C:\Program Data\Fenix\ folder.

And if you are still looking for the correct way to implement NavDataPro data into the PMDG and Fenix, @riskas123: You might be interested in this. 😉

But PMDG and QW are companies with a very limited amount of products and certainly PMDG is in the same price range and the new versions of the NG will not be free.  We are not big fans of charging for expansion packs. Just different kinds of products from a different company.

If it took a lot of work and especially the files are not the same as in the initial version (and with a shortened fuselage for the -200 and different engine shapes and data for the GE and PW engines, there would certainly be quite many new files), I for my part would be perfectly fine with a reasonable upgrade price for new models or engine variants.

It will indeed take some time to have a good line-up of add-ons for MSFS, but if we go on developing for P3d V4 (a platform that for sure will close down as it will be replaced presumably by V5) it will take even longer. Keep in mind that developing add-ons these days is hugely time consuming. At this moment we are planning products that will not be released before late 2021.  And adding new engines and models to the A330 is also not at all a trivial task. You are talking about easily 750 menhours and those will bring in very little new sales. And we have seen already a drop in sales now MSFS is getting closer.

Clearly it is logical for an A330 customer to think about the future of the A330, I however have to think beyond that.

That is understandable. And of course it would make no sense to develop for P3Dv4 any longer if P3Dv5 is already out.  But I hope that at the very least, the development of further A330 models and/or engine variants is still an option at least for the future MSFS version of the A330. I mean, if such an expansion was generally unviable, PMDG would probably not develop -600/-700 expansions for every new 737 NG base pack and not currently hint on a potential -ER version of the 777-200. Or bear in mind QualityWings with their 787-10 expansion.

  7. @DaveCT2003 The assumption that it will take considerable time until we have a comparable range of add-ons for MSFS as we have it now for P3D is an assumption I share. But this assumption is actually also a very good rationale why it might be a good idea to develop additional A330 models and engine variants for the P3D version while P3D is still very much in use and MSFS hasn't caught up completely yet. 😉

Indeed. No new models planned at this moment.

Does that include that there will be no new engine variants for the A330-300, at least for the moment?

By the way, @GBNLL, I can confirm that the A330 is very much flyable, at the very least in its current version 1.0.0.7. I did a flight from EDDL to KMIA last weekend, and everything worked like a charm, also the MCDU fuel indication problem which was present in the earlier versions of the A330 was gone.

  9. Are there currently any problems with your ticket system or the support in general? I opened a ticket one week ago because I didn't get a functioning coupon code when buying a new PFPX server subscription, but never got a reply. I even e-mailed to your support address yesterday, still no response. Any help would be much appreciated.
