  1. @FltsimFlyboyJust been trying your scripts with my Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo and everything seems to be working great, so many thanks for sharing your work.

One question, the only assignments I want on my Alpha are the light switches, AP disengage and Parking Brake. The rest I wish to remove, so my question is, do I have to edit both the template and script?

  2. Since a few days I'm using FDC Live Cockpit. I'm still a beginner in using it, but I learn! There's a strange problem though; when I start up FDC, choose my profile and switch to FSX I get a black screen, while the sounds of FDC are audible. It's like FSX is frozen. I have to turn to the taskmanager, click on FSX in taskmanager before the usual FSX runaway screen turns up...

Maybe there's a setting which I'm forgetting? Please help!

    Hi,

I'm assuming you are using the very latest version of FDC, which is 3.8.3 (another update is due any day now)

FDC will not be the cause of what you are seeing.... it does not interact (graphically) with FS.... I would suggest you check you video drivers

  3. Easy reason... If i import my flightplan of FS, the emulator give me the wrong sectors, altitudes and SID/STAR

Well a little more info would have been useful but not if you consider PFE to be a waste of time because I really don't want to be wasting mine too

However, if you need any help with PFE why not drop by our support forum at AVSIM, you'll find many helpful users there who might be able to help with your problems.

  4. It's true and now we have your attention, please read on. ;-)

We are looking at expanding the number of voice packs (currently 44) within PFE and would welcome anyone interested in recording several hundred wav files. We will provide the tools required to complete this task with the minimum amount of effort on your part. Our utility will automatically scroll through and display the text you are required to speak and then automatically save it with the correct filename and format. We would envisage the whole process taking no more than two or three hours maximum.

You do not have to speak perfect English, provided you can be easily understood, and accents of all kinds are most welcome and in fact very much desired for this roll.

If you are accepted and your voice pack used you will be rewarded with a FREE download of PFE Deluxe *PLUS* a FREE download of an FS add-on of your choice from Aerosoft. Obviously if you already have a copy of PFE you will just get the FREE download of your choice from Aerosoft.

To take part please record a sample wav or mp3 file using the following ATC command:-

"Speedbird two six eight six, turn right heading one nine zero, descend and maintain three thousand, expect vectors for runway two seven left"

ZIP and Email the sample file to voicetest@oncourse-software.co.uk and put the words Voice Test in the subject line. Would you please also let us know your country of origin, as we would hate to offend any successful applicants by adding your voice pack to the wrong region.

We will be in touch with all applicants in due course.

Thanks for your continued interest and support.

  5. Hi Dave,

    1. In PF you can add a SID/STAR to your flight plan if you wish, and that will not change regardless of the active runway assigned on your arrival. Using this feature you simply fly each waypoint in your plan, including the SID/STAR.

What we've added in PFE is a feature where you can assign a SIDSTAR name to a particular runway.

Let's take EGGW (Luton) as an example. I could add LUT08 and LUT26 for STARS against runways 8/26 respectively. Nothing is actually added to your flightplan but when you reach your final waypoint and get handed off to Approach you will be cleared to final on pilots discretion using the Lema Uniform Tango Zero Eight approach if runway 8 is active or Lema Uniform Tango Two Six if runway 26 is being used. This allows you, the pilot, to fly whatever published approach you want, without any interruption from ATC, and once established on the localiser you then make contact with Tower.

In much the same way you can add SIDs to runways too, Tower will clear you for takeoff and read out the SID name for departure, at which point you fly your publish departure and ATC will not contact you again until you reach your pre-configured (SID completion) altitude or the first waypoint in your flight plan (whichever comes first).

With both SIDs and STARs if you do not wish to go to the trouble of entering names for each runway at the airports you fly to the most you can just activate SIDs and/or STARs and choose to use the default name of Delta Papa for SIDs (DPs) or Sierra Tango for STARs.

    2. No, but I have already added this to my list of 'things to do' following a previous request for the same.

    Hope this helps

  6. This users has obviously recorded their own cabin announcements for FDC. You could always send them a message via YouTube and ask if they would care to share them.... infact they could do so via the FDC section of the AVSIM file library.

Edited: In fact I just have

  7. It's true that you may detect differences in both tonal quality and volume in some of the 16 available voice sets but certainly nothing too dramatic.

All FDC updates are obtained via the Auto Updates feature which you can set to check automatically or manually.

  8. Tors,

Did you have another error message appear before the one about hotkeys, as this is usually a result of something else happening. Also I need to know what other FS add-ons you may be running at the same time as PFE.

FSUIPC provides a Hotkey facility used by many programs, however there are a maximum of 56 slots available in total for all applications. So, if you are using other add-ons that use hotkeys it is always best to deactivate any hotkeys you are unlikely to use. Both PFE (and our other application FDC) provide a means by which you can deactivate hotkeys.

  9. Thanks to one of our users (Dennis from Southern California, USA) I think we may now have a solution to the Error 58 problem some of you are experiencing after installing FDC on a Windows Vista machine.

The main culprit is the User Account Control (UAC) feature which, although designed to keep your pc safe, is a little annoying to say the least. I turned UAC off from day one, hence the reason why my installations worked every time. By turning this feature ON I can recreate the problem each time.

So, here's what you need to do and please note these instructions assume you are using the standard Vista interface and have not switched to Classic View. You must also be logged on using an Administration account.

If you've already installed FDC on your Vista machine please uninstall it.

Turn UAC OFF by selecting Start / Control Panel /User Accounts and Family Safety / User Accounts

Select the last item on the displayed window which should be Turn User Account Control on or off... you will need to hit Continue on the annoying UAC prompt message at this point

On the next page you'll see an option marked User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer, which you need to [/]unselect, then click Okay and Restart your Computer.

At this point you should be able to install FDC 3.5 from CD (or downloaded installer) with no problems as I can... then use the Updates feature from the main menu to apply version 3.6 and version 3.7 (Remember you won't be able to 'connect' FDC to FS until you have version 3.7 installed).

The same user who passed on this tip found that he was still unable to successfully install FDC unless he also removed his Admin password. This is a little strange because I actually have a password set on my Vista pc due to it being a prerequisite for using Remote Desktop.

What I would suggest is you try the above (UAC) approach first and if you still have problems then try removing your password, which you can do by following these steps:-

Select Start / Control Panel /User Accounts and Family Safety / Change your Windows password / Remove your password (you will obviously have to enter your password to gain access at this point).

Next time you start your pc you will not have to enter a password.

My guess is, should you find you have to remove your password in order to get FDC installed you will probably be able to reset it afterwards, but I haven't tested that. You might even be able to turn UAC back on if that is your desire, but again I haven't tried.

I would obviously like to hear from anyone still experiencing problems after trying these tips. Equally it would be nice to hear from those previously experiencing such problems who are now able to enjoy FDC on a Vista machine.

  10. That option has not been available for some time now and certainly before 3.5 once our new automatic updates feature was added. Those cabin announcements were and still are optional and are not required for FDC to work. Besides, if you had already downloaded the additional cabin announcements they will still be installed and available to you from 3.5.

You can also download these files from the download section of our website.

  11. Hi Johnny,

FDC is published by Aerosoft and so yes, you can get answers here for most issues. However, Aerosoft are only the publisher and to get the quickest response from the developers it is always best to visit our dedicated support forum at AVSIM. If you're unable to get onto AVSIM please address that issue with the AVSIM staff as we have no control over their forum access system.

    Now onto your problem...

When you say you don't have Italian or French announcements what exactly do you mean. Are you saying you've installed these but they don't work or they did worked but since installing the 3.5 upgrade they suddenly stopped?

  12. The default location for the installation is something like C:Program FilesAerosoftFDC, so if you chose the default when originally installing the product that is where it will be. If you navigate to that folder you will also see many other sub folders within it, whereas my guess ifs the other FDC folder you say is on it's own does not have sub folders inside.

The update should go into the main FDC folder

  13. If you have two FDC folders and have only installed FDC once then you must have installed the update incorrectly. You must pay very special attention to the folder you choose to install the update which MUST be the same folder you chose to install FDC originally. Once you get to version 3.2 the automatic update feature will take over and things will be much easier going forward with regard FDC updates.

  14. This has been covered on our support forum:-

    http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...s&forum=138

    Here's the exact details:-

A new update (version 3.5) has just been made available. If you're currently using version 3.3 or later (which you certainly should be) and have the auto-updates set to detect updates automatically you should get the updates next time you run FDC. If you chose not to use this automatic feature then please use the UPDATES button from the main menu.

Details about this update can be found by using the direct link shown below or by using the DETAILS button from the 'new updates' display you will see when updates are detected.

    http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk/updates...c_patch_3-5.pdf

If you're one of those having problems using the auto-updates function you may update to version 3.5 by following these instructions:-

Once you've updated to version 3.5 your update problems should be a thing of the past.

    Please download the following file:-

    http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk/updates...3-5_updates.zip

Ensure FDC is not running then unzip both the files into your main FDC folder, overwriting the ones already there.

Updating directly to 3.5 is fine as the changes are cumulative.

    IMPORTANT

If your version of FDC is earlier than 3.3 (this does NOT include version 1.0 users!) you must first download and install the following update (by following the install instructions in the included documentation)...

    http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk/downloads/fdc_3-2.zip

...this will update you to 3.2 and then use the UPDATES button to update automatically to version 3.5

Any version earlier than 3.5 will NOT work with FSX
