  1. Its interesting. They are asking for donations, so obviously could use some cash for their efforts. Selling the scenery on DVD (if they are allowed to) for what they think is a fair amount might kill two birds with one stone.....

There's a difference between selling DVDs with profit and getting donations...

  2. I'm downloading now, but I think it takes me some days until I got it all. But you don't necessarily need to download it all, you can also download just a couple of airports and leave the photo-underground out of it. And all but the photo-underground is also available from flightsim.com and later avsim as well.

  3. I gave this new soundpack a try. I like the internal sounds, it sounds much closer to the real thing (at least what I know from videos and real F-16 simulators). The outside sounds I have a bit more mixed feeling. I'm missing the characteristic F-16 high pitched tone (wizzle) when the engine is in idle. Also the "3D" sound effect that the default soundpack has is missing: there now is no difference in the sound from the front and back of the aircraft. The sound of the engine in full power is great, however in afterburner the sound becomes somewhat damped, sounds less powerful than when the engine is in mill-power. Is there a way to mix the two soundpacks, with the original sounds for the outside and the sounds of this pack for the inside?

  4. :excellenttext_s:Very nice work barak, thanks for sharing this. Good to see people still make repaints for the F-16. I wish I had more time to do some my own. Perhaps you could also upload them to the Aerosoft repaint download section?

  5. You can't directly use the textures from the FS9 paint in FSX. The FS9 F-5E uses bmp textures, the FSX uses dds and are flipped vertically. But you can transform bmp into dds using imagetool. Imagetool came with the FS9 and FSX SDK, but if you google it you'll find it as well. Open the bmp files in imagetool and save them as dds files. That automatically flips the image vertically as well. Now you can use the textures on your FSX F-5.

  6. Tuesday Feb 9th, 2010. I followed the Shockwave 3D Lights Manual and changed settings in most of the F-16 models. In every case the landing lights did not illuminate the ground. Frustrated, I emailed the A2A Simulation (Shockwave) team and got this reply:

    Hello,

unfortunately due to the way the F16 was modeled this is not possible to

correctly add 3rd party lights to the aircraft.

    Please see this forum thread for a few details;

    http://a2asimulation...hp?f=32&t=12649

Sorry to have to bring you the bad news,

    thanks

Check the link, it's informative. Much as I hate to give up - I will! Hope someone manages to develop a decent fix. What's the sense in having a product that won't deliver!

    Regards everyone!

Yes, this is what I've told you before. The F-16 hasn't landing lights that illuminate the ground because of the way it's modeled. Sorry for you if such a small thing ruins the whole product for you. Personally I learned to life with it and it don't bother me much anymore. It's your loss.

  7. You can try as hard as you want but you won't be able to get the lights of the F-16 to illuminate the ground. This was a problem we ran into during the beta and has never been fixed. For some reason it can't be modeled into the F-16. Sorry.

  8. Hallo, in the center console put the knob switch to ILS.

In the right back console put the second switch off.

    This will do the trick.

It works for me, so for you it must also work.

Also read the manual, it is completely explaned how to fly an ILS approach.

    Succes

Yes, that's how it should work (works for me)

    1. enter the correct frequency and course in NAV1 with the DED

    2. set the HDI Mode switch to ILS/NAV

    3. right console, avionics power switch ST STA to off

    4. now you should see the ILS cross in the HUD

  9. One request for a repaint is enough ;)

I started working on a repaint of this livery months back, but haven't had the time to finish it yet. Might take me some more time but I'll soon show some work in progress shots...

  10. To VinFlyer, Why is it so smooth ?

Well for two reason. first of all, photoscenery usualy use less memory. but the real secret is to make sure you do not have the antialising on in Flightsimulator.

Why ? the reason is simple. Flight sim use x16 antialising by default... which is waaaaaaaay too much for our actual computers.

What you want to do is turn it off in the game, but go in your Video card setting, and 'force' the antialising at x8

you will see a HUUUUGE change in your framerate.

The last thing i would suggest is never use the vertical syncronisation if you don t have a beast of computer. and also if you record with Fraps, always record at 1/2 speed or 1/3 speed therefore when you speed up the video in your editing software, you get higher fps

for example if i have 10 fps in game and that i record at 1/3 speed. if i speed up by 3 my footage in the editing software i will get 10fps x 3 = 30 fps. so it s very smooth ^^

    Hope it helps !

Thanks for those tips. I'll try that out for sure :)

  11. Nice to hear you had a good time. I wanted to come over this year as usual but unfortunately didn't have any time for it :( Oh well, next year. Must have been fun flying with LelystadX while looking outside and seeing the real thing. Any pics of this year show?

  12. I think it is safe to say that no additional buttons or switches will be added - sorry !

Doing that would require new VC model files for all versions.

The work to do that is total out of proportion for adding just one switch.

I donĀ“t hope that Bitchin Betty yells at You constantly, cause that would indicate that You either is flying towards the ground or have massive system cautions all the time. ;)

    Finn

well, when flying a demo display it's a bit annoying but overall with normal flying I'm glad Betty is making a bit of noise once in a while

  13. Thanks for this update, just what this plane needed. Now that we've got Bitching Betty, how can we turn her off? She can be annoying some times... If I'm correct there's a switch on the Audio 1 panel for that. In FSX most of the Audio 1 switches are inop so perhaps one of those can be used for that?

  14. Impressive indeed. Very, very nice. Must have taken a sh*tload of time to make this. Great flying, filming and editing. I (try to) fly in formation with FSrecorder myself from time to time but never managed to get a formation greater then 3 planes. And it never flies so smooth as in this video, I'm jealous

PS: Mathijs, when I click a link in this forum it's opened in the same window/tab. Is it possible to open links in a different window while keeping me on the aerosoft forum?

  15. That's correct. There are two fresnel textures: forward canopy and rear canopy. You need to make a choose for each part of the canopy. If for instance you want to simulate the canopy colors from the F-16 in the attached picture, you might want to choose the "New Green Gold fresnel" texture for the fwd transparency and the "Gold fresnel" for the rear transparency. I hope this makes it more clear than complicated :D
