The night textures have no function (unfortunately). It was used in beta to show light reflected on the fuselage when the nose wheel light was on. But I believe it was demanding to much of the fps. So it was skipped in the end. The only night-texture that work is for the tail (F-16C_8_NIGHT). Why the others where kept in I'm not sure of, perhaps waiting for an eventual update with working nose wheel light (if it will ever come...)

Do you mean you can't see the 2D panels in the F-16? That is because this F-16 only has a 3D cockpit, not a 2D one.

Talking about an other form of "spam", the enormous Bronco X banner on top of this forum... Is there a way to remove it? I already bought the plane so no need to draw my attention to it :-)

Shaun, was that about the mentioning about freeware scenery? Is that not allowed anymore?
On the subject of the preview pictures, I like the progress shown. I've visited Sola only once so I might not know the airport in and out (although Dag gave me a good tour around the field) but it looks quite like I remember it. One question on the ground textures: in the latest screenshots the groundtextures / taxiways seem a bit low-res / grainy compared to the textures shown in the first post of this topic. Are these textures provisional or are these final?

There's a stunning freeware scenery coming too Vin, Sola seems to be dealt with pretty well these days ;-)

If you'd like an enhanced version of Leeuwarden AFB you should check out the one done by the NL2000 scenery team. They made (almost) all the military and civil airfields for FSX. And you wouldn't need to download and install the whole package, just installing one or more airfields is also on option: http://www.nl-2000.com/nuke/

I have got the History channel here in Holland (History HD) as well but can't remember this program being broadcasted there. Perhaps later, looks like an interesting program. What they do show on that channel is the Dogfights series, where dogfights are reproduced in 3D.
And now we are on the topic TV tips (as far airplanes are concerned):

The English Electric Lightning is credited with a single kill, ironically a British aircraft – a Harrier pilot ejected and the pilot-less aircraft continued to fly. The order was given to shoot down the aircraft and the Lightning did.From an other site:
The prototype, the English Electric P.1, made it's first flight on 4 August 1954 from RAF Boscombe Down, it had limited range due to fuel capacity restrictions but in all other ways it's performance was impressive by today's standards and almost almost science fiction by those of 1954! Petter had included leading edge design ideas into the P.1, he incorporated an all-flying tail-plane (described by Chuck Yeager as the single most significant contribution to the final success of supersonic flight) and a shock cone for the engines air intake which also housed the AI 23 Airpass radar, when test flown the aircraft broke the sound barrier without it's afterburners even being lit, this was the first time a jet aircraft had been able to do this and it did so on it's very first day it flew!, by the end of July, the world air speed record (mach 1.72) had been broken. -

I get this message on some paints of F-16. "Oh No That's Not the Right Aircraft"

Could be a couple of things:
- what configuration type F-16 are you flying? The ones with pylon tanks and bombs will take longer to rotate, not at 150 but more at 190-200 knots.
- with a hard landing it can happen the plane doesn't crash but that the elevators stop working (because they hit the ground during landing). I don't think that's a realistic characteristic but that's the way this plane was made.

Flylogic's F-5 is an E-model, quite different from an A.
Paints possible are Dutch, Spanish, Canadian, Venezuelan, Greek, Turkish, Norwegian, Iranian, Philipine, South Vietnamese and quite a few others.
Plus, the FSX Flylogic F-5 is an upgraded fs9 model so it's about time a true FSX F-5 would hit the market. As far as I know there hasn't been a payware F-5A/B. I like the Flylogic one, has a nice VC but I know Aerosoft can do an ever better job. As for the A-4, nice jet but not on the top of my list. Personally I see no reason Aerosoft should make one as well when Razbam is already working on one, and owning a couple of their products I'm sure they will do a heck of a job on that one.

Ok a half time assessment.
Which ever model is chosen will be built from the ground up, no ported parts, no old parts, all new and yes will utilize recent technology.
You'll note the list is mainly small, agile or diverse role airframes, this should allow more detail to be encompassed with out issues on frame rates, it is not intended to produce every variant that a particular model offers, there are plenty of other vendors who target that genre of modeling. Single seater's are preferred, but side by side considered if popular with the clientèle.
F-5, valid point and it'll be on the list for good reason, reworking or doubling up on your own stock is more palatable than doing so against another vendor.
A-10, correct, if it were just the one then this thread would not exist, the 'timely' arrival of the second was felt to be just too much dilution at this present moment in time, the mesh is not destroyed and will be kept in warm storage, there's too much work and detail already done to totally discard it, let alone expenditure on literature etc, DCS isn't really a factor, a consideration, but not a major factor.
A-7, Razbam cater for a distinct market, they do it very well IMHO, thats all that needs to be said.
A-4, Its still on the list despite Razbams announcement, the objective if this became the chosen one, would be to complement other vendors, not compete, your logic is sound and I can't or won't dissuade your views, it ticks every box on the plus criteria and only one in the negative.
There is a similar thread at SoH, if you add the two together it comes out at 9 each for the A-37 and A-4, with the votes being 7/2 and 2/7 respectively (SoH/Aerosoft A-37) (SoH/Aerosoft A-4), now this is the 'official' thread so the A-4 would win in the case of a tie.
I'm led to believe that this thread will run until the end of the week so plenty of mileage to go, but it looks like a one horse race at the half way point.

How about having a real poll on top of the forum running for a week or so? You make a short list and in the end we'll see what's the preferred aircraft?

I would leave all ongoing projects instantly when the model became readily mapped.
Second choice would be an F-84G and third would be F-84F/RF-84F.

Impressive stuff Peter. There I am struggling to get a couple of AI f-16's decently in the air and you send half a squadron in the air at once. How does that work?
