However, there is one more thing that is not correct: On your screenshot, these "light gray concrete squares" are looking quite strange. It seems there is also another scenery package in your "Custom Scenery" interfering with Seychelles4XPlane.

@HeliGui Custom Scenery/AEP/ is "Airport Enhancement Package" by X-Codr? That may the other package that interfere with Seychelles4XPlane, displaying you X-Codr's textures above our custom ground textures.

Technical background: We've default ground textures and on top of them custom ground textures for Seychelles4XPlane; AEP replaces default textures, but obviously with a higher LAYER_GROUP than the default textures, and obviously with the same/higher LAYER_GROUP(s) we use. As a consequence you see now a mix of X-Codr's textures and our custom ground textures for Seychelles4XPlane.

Long story short: You may want to disable AEP for Seychelles4XPlane (by replacing the directive SCENERY_PACK with SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED for AEP in your scenery_packs.ini), or alternatively by (re)moving AEP (temporarily) out of your "Custom Scenery" directory.

  2. Thanks for the report @HeliGui, and @FlyAgi for the initial reply.

It was “Global Forests v2”, it worked here by placing it on the line below

Yep, giving Global_Forests_v2 lower priority than Seychelles4XPlane, i.e. placing it in your scenery_packs.ini below the four entries for Seychelles4XPlane in your scenery_packs.ini, should bring back the custom vegetation for Seychelles4XPlane.

I'm not at my dev machine right now, but will check and help as soon as I get back...

  3. I'm pleased to hear that the result is convincing: You're welcome!

As for your questions: Well, first of all, it's generally never a good idea to manipulate "private" DataRefs. Understand such changes just as "hacks" that can have unpredictable side effects. On the other hand, such changes are not permanent. But that also means that you have to adjust the values each time... Unless you put the changes in a custom script. (there are a few existing scripts that change the DataRefs in question, but I don't use them and therefore can't recommend any). Finally, as far as the max value is concerned, I think you can leave it untouched if you have min<max configured.

Would you have any idea about how to settle these issues ?

That's caused by a limitation of XP, and there is currently not really(*) a good solution for this 😞

Background info: XP will only load a certain number (4x3=12) of terrain mesh tiles (each of 1x1-degrees) around your current position. The closer to the poles, the smaller these XP tiles become. In the distance, outside the displayed XP tiles, the so-called "Earth Orbit Textures" are shown by XP. These textures "imitate" a low resolution terrain in the distance: These are the "blurry" textures you see on the horizon.

(*) If you are familiar with manipulating XP DataRefs, you can - to improve the situation a bit - play with the values of min_dsf_vis_ever and max_dsf_vis_ever. (in the XP menu choose "Plugins > Data Ref Editor > Show Art Controls" and set e.g. min_dsf_vis_ever=70000, or to a similar value)

The same happens in Antarctica with the beautiful Antarctica4XPlane scenery packs.

As for Antarctica4XPlane, see in addition to above also this info.

  5. @cocacolo Thanks for your interest in our scenery packages, and sorry, somehow I missed this thread! In addition to what @FlyAgi has already written, I strongly recommend 8GB+ VRAM for Society Islands XP. For both, Bora Bora & Leeward Islands, and especially the sequel Tahiti & Windward Islands. With less VRAM, even if it will somehow be runnable with massively reduced graphic settings, you will presumably not very happy - likely also not in XP11.

Oh man I loved this addon back in XP11. Spend many a' hours here with my Turbo Otter. I wish I could have this now in MSFS as I've made the switch complete for some time now. But at least I have the memories 😅

Too bad, you will definitely miss something, especially now with X-Plane 12 😎 Check out the developer blog for Tahiti & Windward Islands XP, the sequel to Bora Bora & Leeward Islands XP.

Plugins in XP11 geschrieben. Verwendest du in XP12 weiterhin solche o.ä Plugins?

so the version that downloads to the XP11 version is identical to the XP12 version?

Exactly! This applies to the current version of Seychelles XP, but may change in the future when we implement XP12-specific features and have an XP12-specific version. At the moment, however, copying Seychelles XP from XP11 to XP12 should work without any issues. Good luck!

I purchased this awesome scenery for XP11 through the steam store, I can see that it has been updated to XP12 for free (thank you so much) so it turns up in my XP12 steam library. However, I didn't purchase XP12 through steam, I got it through LR directly. My issue is that I want to install the XP12 version of the scenery but steam wont let me as I don't own  the base game on steam. Any ideas on what I can do??

Thanks for your purchase and your feedback: We are very pleased that you like Seychelles XP!

As for your question: I'm not aware of any solution to work around this specific situation on Steam. You could contact Aerosoft Support directly and ask if they can unlock your Steam purchase on Aerosoft One. (Enclose a proof of your Steam purchase with your request)

The quickest solution, however, is to copy the XP11 version to XP12 by hand. That's possible, because the current XP11 version, which you can download via Steam, also contains the XP12 version. You should find detailed instructions for installation by hand in the manual.

  14. Short news update on Society Islands XP - Tahiti & Windward Islands: The scenery package has been "feature complete" for some time now, the beta tests are close to a successful end, and the release is already in preparation. To shorten you the time until then, I invite you to read the latest posting on our developer blog:

As already announced - in addition to the three airports and airfields - we have now also included three heliports in the scenery package. The helipads belong to hospitals on Tahiti and Moorea. Specifically, these are Taaone (NTHP), Taravao (NTHV) and Afareaitu (NTHF), all implemented in exceptional detail. Here're some first screenshots:

17. Some misleading info seems to have been spread in this thread, so I'll clarify: The scenery package should contain an Ortho4XP-patch in OSM-format, as well as elevation data in TIF-format. If this is not the case, contact your reseller or the publisher Aerosoft directly.

If you want to use your own Ortho4XP-mesh instead of the shipped customized default mesh, then copy the Ortho4XP-patch to "Ortho4XP_v130/Patches/+40-010/+40-004/", and select the TIF in the Ortho4XP-configurations under "custom_dem", then recreate your Ortho4XP-mesh.

And don't forget: It is important that in the case you want to use your own Ortho4XP-mesh, that the shipped custom mesh (a customized version of the XP default mesh) is disabled in the scenery_packs.ini! (or be removed from the Custom Scenery-folder)

  18. Short news on Society Islands XP - Tahiti & Windward Islands: We are very busy to finally complete this extensive project, and are currently testing the lastet Alpha version. A great opportunity to give you a few insights into what happened behind the scenes in the last couple of weeks:

    soi4xp_ww_wip_nttm_11.jpg

    soi4xp_ww_wip_nthf_01.jpg

We already informed that the Landscape (terrain mesh) and the Airports are already finished: But: We weren't particularly happy with the first version of the Overlays we had, and so we decided to invest a little more time. And what should I say, I'm really happy about this decision:

    soi4xp_ww_wip_ntaa_12.jpg

    soi4xp_ww_wip_nthp_02.jpg

What's next? Shortly we'll bundle a first Beta, and while the QA team will be busy testing, we will focus on one last remaining task: We want to provide also three hospital helipads in addition to the three airports. More on that soon: In this thread, on the developer blog, and on FB.

  21. Dear followers and friends of Antartica4XPlane,

I just learned that Wilkins Runway (YWKS) and Union Glacier Blue-Ice Runway (SCGC) are planned to be visited as part of WorldFlight 2023. I'm sorry to inform all new to Antarctica4XPlane that the areas around these runways are not covered by any of the already published Parts 1, 2 and 3 of A4XP.

Well, it is as it is and I suggest to the XP community an alternativ route from YMML via Williams Field (NZWD) and Teniente Rodolfo Marsh Martin Airport (SCRM) to SAWH. NZWD is covered by Part 2 and located in the McMurdo Sound; SCRM is covered by Part 1 and located on King George Island.

Enjoy your flights, and Happy landings!
