  1. If some young whipper-snapper doesn't get to them 1st...I'll see what I can do when I get the paintkit. ;)

More pics of the specific one you want would be helpful....she changed liveries a few times from what I see. (I can only do one on the onset...so you'll need to pick one, hehe)

    • Stripes, small flower on tail
    • Red bottom, small flower
    • Red bottom, big flower
    • all red engine
    • half red/white engine...etc

And you gotta tell me the name/IACO of that airport in the 1st pic.   I have to fly there and see if I can land the 747-8 there. LOL

  2. I can tell you (just as @jeffw can), that flying formation and in groups, in MSFS especially, is an absolute blast!

I recently painted a custom DC-6 livery for a simmer who was creating a charity flight for a children's cancer hospital in Poland, and told him I had also painted a custom, secret livery for his Twitch stream event (During the last Cross the Pond), and may join him along the way during his stream.

I joined him just outside Las Vegas, and we flew formation and had a great time chatting while we flew....It was so cool to find him...see him just as a dot for a while while I slowly intercepted him, then joined up on his wing. :)

He was in the white one, and had not seen the red one before I joined him. I just reversed the colors on the white one as you can see....he loved them both :)  And we wound up making over $3000 US for the charity ....in 20 years of painting for the community...this one meant the most to me (obviously).

I'm offering to paint pilot's names on the side of their DC-6 for this RTW event if they are flying one of my paints...see here: ;)

I'm snappedtiara694 in MSFS BTW, mostly on server USAEAST

  3. Sadly I won't be able to participate this year mostly due to paint projects in work for several Devs.

However, with the popularity of the DC-6 for this wonderful event, I can offer a custom nameplate on the side of my DC-6 paints for anyone wanting to fly them round' the world, similar to what I did for a friend who did a special charity event during Cross the Pond for a children's cancer hospital in Poland (that wound up making over $3000 US for the event!)

This was a completely custom paintjob (Sorry I can't do one for this event, but maybe next time... ;) ), complete with the names of the top donors to the charity (I put Rob's name in there as a placeholder to float the idea to the organizer, hehe)

Should you want to fly any of my paints with your name on the side of the aircraft, please IM me with info (my paint you're flying, the name you want to display and an email address I can send to), and I'll send back the file to replace in your MSFS DC-6 folder to add the name.

Please do not ask me to modify other artist's paints, as obviously this violates the EULA, and expect a realistic turn-around for your request. (Not "I'm heading out to Paris in 10 mins, can you have my paint ready by then?" Hehe. :) )  It does not take long and I'll do my best to accommodate everyone in a timely manner (respecting that I do actually sleep and my time zone may differ from yours, LOL).

You can get my DC-6 paints here at flightsim.to

Thanks Steve, yeah that Da-62 is a special.  How have you been?

Its been a year of years...let's just say.

Just finished my 3rd surgery in as many months, but all have been successful and I'm improving health-wise every day. (2 of them just on my eyes, removing cataracts)

Hope to learn how to paint in blender and substance and open a new chapter from 2d texture map painting I've been doing for 20 years now, to the new 3d methods that yield unbelievable results. :)

Long road to learn and I'm not getting any younger...in fact about to hit the official OLD milestone in 2 weeks!  But will keep learning until I can't do it any longer. ;)

  5. I love my airliners as much as the next crazy simmer-nut.  Some here may recall that I even painted a few of them for the community...

For now, MSFS is not our sim for this facet of simming. However, nobody can deny that this is just about sums up the diversity of the amount of simmers in the current market:

Now of course ALL those new customers will not continue to become even casual simmers that developers will count on for sales (when they're done showing all their friends their house in MSFS, and realize they can't fly it like GTA and crash into anything with graphic, gory results...they'll be gone).

But even if 20% of them stay and become potential customers for devs, that's around 200,000 new simmers.  I don't know the real numbers, but you can bet @Mathijs Kokhas a way more accurate viewpoint of the market, so you can assume anything he says about the numbers is going to be as accurate as it can be.

And with MSFS being in the limelight that it is right now....especially if you remember where the launch announcement was made way back...literally as the largest Flight Sim Conference was being held in Orlando (basically a snub to the "real, hardcore" simmers out there), you start to see that this sim has had thousand of times the exposure to the general public than P3D or FSX ever had.  More proof....you even see the major hardware influencers and gamers on youtube, twitch, etc even including MSFS in their benchmarking for new GPU/CPUs!   NEVER in the history of simming has that ever happened!

Anyway, all our "speculation" of the flight sim customer base is moot.  The chips will fall where they will fall, and Aerosoft (and all vendors) will go where the revenue is, that is the only fact that is undeniable. (Well....all the smart vendors who want to stay in business that is, hehe)

I succesfully hijacked @steve dra's Freighter!  I just wanted to show a preview of planes no one asked for but because I love the liveries I decided to make.  Its just what I do.  Anyways, bit of back story, Atlas has on numerous occasions over the last 3 years stated they are constantly looking at doing A330s because of the availability in feedstock in comparison to 767s.  These are the three concepts I have of what it would look like if operated by them.  For those not in the know.  Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings is the parent company of Atlas, Polar, and Southern.  They are also a large operator of Prime Air aircraft.  The Prime Aircraft isn't finished yet.  But I wanted to post a preview before I left for work tomorrow.  All will be posted when I get back in 10 days.

    Looking Stellar as usual Brian!

Freight Dawgs will now have the Bus with a few carriers to haul boxes in. :)

Steve,  great job.   You do so much for the community,  Thank You

Thanks.  When I get in a painting groove, I can pop them out at a pretty good pace (with Quality always in mind of course)

This one is going to be easy after the last few: (and I like the livery....2nd airframe I've painted it on)

  8. air Hongkong/DHL A330 P2F now in the library:

@mousemansteven VP-BLX is correct.  The door is only there by virtue of paint and editing of the bump and metal maps.  Aerosoft would have to provide a model with a operating cargo door for it to open.   Not sure if the model/coding work involved on both a dedicated freighter (A300-200F) and the P2F conversion of a passenger A330-300 would be a viable ROI for Aerosoft ...so I don't think we'll ever see the model...but if we do...this paint will be ready for it. :)

  9. Tail is done.   Brand spankin' new. (Because it really is...the plane has only been B-LDO for a few weeks now)

The work you don't see is that in order for the textures to be totally correct on the doors....(no metal reflection off the lower door plate on the L4 door....because its not there)...you have to edit 3 maps, and 1 texture and 2 channels on EACH map...for a total of NINE items you have to touch (some is painting, some is removing things).....JUST to capture this ONE effect properly.  Ugh....it is a LOT of work!!!

Forget to edit the bump map or the Metal map.....and you'll see this:

What drives a lot of new painters nuts is trying to figure out why they take that metal plate off the main texture map....but still see what "appears" to be the plate...when in reality...that is actually the "metal'ness" and "Bump" of those 2, totally separate maps acting on that area.

All this knowledge comes from just doing it for so long...playing with all the maps to see how they effect the model in flightsim....there is no magic here, hehe. :)

OK Dave....maybe I am a Master painter...but only because of the reasons I mentioned in my other post...LOL

  10. Working on the bump maps for the Freighter....a lot to do but you can see where I took the window bumps off the nose section (as this part is reworked by the cargo conversion process and the window holes are pretty much removed).

Also took the bumps and reflections off the L2 and R2 doors since they are non-functional on the freighter (plus removed the stickers)

And added a "bump" for the rain gutter above the new cargo door.  Of course I added depth to the door itself to give it a 3d appearance.

VERY Nicely done, Steve.  Took her for a quick spin at sunset.  Guess the airport..  ;)

    -Scott Brandenburg.

    Thanks Scott!

Well....if I couldn't guess the right airport from this photo....I would promptly have my aviation geek card revoked! LoL

And since I flew out of there (and meet you there once) on a weekly basis when I lived in the city of that airport...I'd be shunned by all if I couldn't guess it. :)

It's just too bad JPEG Compression kills the color RED for some reason....with a livery like this...the pics literally do it no justice....you KNOW how good the red looks in the sim ;)

Here is the next one rolling out of the paint shop....

    Guess the airport. ;)
