Electric Lightning

Hi Just started with the F6 and first impressions are it's an excellent job. However, all of the sounds seem to be there except engines on ground and in flight. I start the engines and as they spool up the sound fades to nothing. I downloaded the F6 patch for "Sound Problems" and unzipped same but no difference. Other aircraft engine sounds are fine. Any suggestions or maybe I have chosen the wrong location for "FSXMainFolder"? Regards, Ian

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here but when ever I start in the F6 in a cold and dark state, followed by me pressing the ready for flight button on the pop up panel. As soon as I power up to take off I get to about 80kts and the canopy blows off!!! Happens every time and I don't know why....any ideas?

HI Installed TACPAC but LF sight and radar still don´t wpork for me. Maybe I doing something wrong or just don´t get it. Anybody know how to make it work? Thanks Leif S

I just noticed that the latest version of the F.3 has an Effects folder with Sound sub-folder as part of the Aerosoft Lightning F3 aircraft folder. This is for the non-tackpack FSX install. Should these be copied over to the main FSX effects folder? There are no specific instructions on these folders. --WJ

I've been doing lots of flying with the Lightning. Just when I have things figured out, things go SNAFU. What is the trick for keeping that dang horn from sounding off? I know it must be related to the RPMs and generator output because whenever they drop and a generator goes offline, the horn sounds. Problem is that its a pain to try and taxi as too many RPMs get the aircraft moving too fast for the brakes to control and I'm all over the taxiway. I just completed a flight across state to Fairchild AFB. I landed too fast and blew the chute and went off the runway. Then to add insult to injury, I couldn't taxi worth a darn. Any suggestions....

Hi, I've just downloaded this upgrade. I previously had V 1.4.2.4. I can now fire the Redtops!!! However so far I haven't hit anything with them. Has anyone had success with this version? David

Hello, I wondered if anyone can help me with missing textures on my newly purchased Lightning? As you can see from the screenshot, my Lightning looks a little naked. This is the same no matter which model I choose, but is only on external textures. My VC is imaging correctly. Of course I have several aircraft in my inventory but none with missing textures like this. I am running FSX:SE on Windows 10 EZdok latest version, I bought this just before I purchased the Lightning. I also purchased TacPack but that doesn't work either. I do have DX10 fixer installed and running FSX in DX10 preview mode. I get the same problems in either DX9 or DX10 though! My details are as follow…

Is it possible to remove the pilot for either the F.3 or F.6 while the aircraft is parked? Thanks in advance --WH

Today I installed the version 2.0 on a completely new FSX install and when i load the plane I noticed, that the oxygen tank is empty. When I put the switch for the oxygen on, I get no pressure because the tank is empty.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the F6, I've only had it for half a day but I absolutely love it!!! The only let down is that there is no paint kit or at least I couldn't find it? really well done on it.....would love to see the T5 next to complete the set regards Dale

It appears there is a problem with the textures for the F.6_guntank folder. Two textures are identical. Texture.XR763 duplicates the aft fuselage textures from Texture.XS901. The rudders are different, but the aft fuselage both show number XS901. Any idea what happened to XR763 textures? --WH

It doesn't matter what combination of keypresses, VC switches, time of day/night - I just can't get the wingtip lights to come on in the F6 (must remember to check the F3). I seem to remember P3Dv2 having some sort of bug with respect to exterior lighting in general - and I've done a quick search in the EE Lightning section but couldn't find anything. I know with other aircraft that have this problem, you eventually trick it into working. Not so with the F6. Not exactly a show-stopper, but any ideas, anyone? Adam. I love the F3/F6 - here's the proof!

Ever since I installed the Lightning F6 I am getting an error about the default Air Creation 582SL missing, and the folder in my aircrafts folder was indeed gone. I saw it was mentioned something about the Air Creation 582SL in the installer. (see attached picture) I got my installer from Simmarket, so maybe you should check if there is something wrong with it. Could anybody send me this folder? (Hope it’s okay to ask since it’s a default aircraft)

Hello, Just wondering, how reliable are the RedTop missiles for hitting a target? So far flying the jet, twice I have not been able to get missile acquisition, once the missile just dropped off the rail, and another the missile didn't seek the target. This was all to only one successful firing. Is this about right? And the range of this missile is 10nm give or take? Peter

Hi: I just purchased the F3 and F6. The F3 downloaded fine. When I tried to download the F6 from the USA mirror, I got a timeout message. I used the German mirror, and the download did not complete. When I tried it again from the German mirror, I got a message stating the maximum number of downloads had been reached. I tried the USA mirror again, and I got another timeout message. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with Height Hold on the autopilot. I'm pretty sure I'm engaging it correctly as the HDG mode will follow the selected heading. Attitude hold also seems not to work on my system as the little stick has no affect. Ant ideas??

Hi @ll, in my Lightning the wind sounds are far too loud. Until I start rolling on the runway, everything is fine, but all of a sudden an accoustic hurricane sets in that drowns out all other sounds. Turning down the sound slider helps a bit, but not 100%. My next step would be to tune down the .wav files themselves - or am I missing something?

Recently upgraded to Windows 10 and FSX (FSX Acceleration, not FSX Steam Edition) works fine. However, on trying to fly the Lightning the sim grinds virtually a halt (2-3fps versus 20-30+ normally) when I switch to external view (frame rates appear OK on the cockpit view). The issue appears specific to this aircraft (the likes of the F14X and VRS Superbug all work flawlessly when recreating the same scenario). Any ideas what is causing this?

Two things to raise. I noted in the announcement forums a link to 2.01 of the F3, although the following URL doesn't work for me (gives "The page you are trying to access is not available for your account."). The version in my user centre is 2.00 http://forum.aerosoft.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=69492 Also, there was mention of being able to purchase the F6 for €10 as an existing owner of the original F3 product. How do I go about doing this, as the only option seems to be to buy the full price product?

Hello, I both the Lightning yesterday and noticed that i do not get any sounds apart from the switches. no engien sounds ore any sounds apart from the switches, and even there I get sounds from aproxemently 60% of the switches. But love the aircraft, only sad that there is no sound Thank you

Just noted that the F Mk.2A does not have an entry for the "ui_variation=" entry in the aircraft.cfg so the model did not appear in my Select Aircraft menu. Not sure what was intended, but for the moment I've added the plane number so it now reads "ui_variation=XN778." Thanks --WH

It is possible that an error in the Red Top self destruct code introduced in Tacpack build 1.4.2.4. will prevent acquisition and operation of the missiles. If you experience this a tempory work-round is to change the missile reference in the tacpack.cfg to that of the AIM-9P (this is closest to the Red Tops performance) Open the tacpack configuration setings file (the one below the .air file in the aircraft folder, double click and it should open with notepad ) Under the headings [MapStoreIDs] ; [Store_Station.0] and [Store_Station.3] change the references for AAM_RedTop ...to...
