Aerosoft Twin Otter

All the support and discussion about the Aerosoft Twin Otter for MFS.

  1. With the disappointing news that the rerecording of the sound set for the Twin Otter has failed, I thought I'd offer two suggestions that are both easier and faster than rerecording another sound set yet again: 1) Configure / remaster the existing sound set properly. The main issue with the current sound set is that it doesn't scale up or down with throttle input or prop pitch. You clearly already have good quality recordings at various throttle input levels, they are just hard-cut with no blending, and the change in pitch (the pitch of the sound, not the propeller pitch) is not smoothly proportional to throttle input. There's a tool to help with adjusting pit…

Hi everybody, thanks to the paintkit provided by Aerosoft (many thanks!!) I´m currently trying to create my first own livery. As I´m mostly flying NeoFly missions I made a livery for that. Some sample pictures are below/attached. So what do you think? I will put it on flightsim.to when I´m done, as there is no Twin Otter livery for NeoFly at the moment (at least none that I am aware of). One question: Almost done I thought it may be fun to give the logo on the tail and the writing on the fuselage some metallic effect. But I´m unsure if I really like it. What do you think? Maybe I just test it for a few flights... And a se…

Hi Mathijs I know I was one who advocated 'all quiet on the Otter front' to let AS have a good go at the sound package. But this was months ago, and I reckon we're all itching to hear what the current status of the project is. Can you give us an idea of where you're at and how's it all going?

Hello, as I think the twin otter uses wasm code, should xbox users wait for asobo to fix this (which means still months away...) in order to get the aircraft on console ? Thank you.

Hi Aerosoft Devteam, since there was the word of "everything that opens will open", if we can expect it, when will the Cockpit Windows be able to be opened? Especially in warmer climates its a emmersion feature to be able to open the cockpit windows. And it would fall in line with the statement made. So are there any plans? Thank you. Greetings.

As the title suggests, since the last update through the aerosoft one app, the instrument panel lights are flickering when viewed from a certain angle. I move around the cockpi and the flickering stops from certain points of view but is fairlyconstant from most points. I can turn the lights off and there is no flickering, but no night flying either.

I am sure that it is there somewhere but for the life of me I can’t seem to find it. John.

Hi all, Really loving the Twin Otter - it really is a fabulous achievement and so immersive in VR! One of the few small things I have struggled with is setting the ADF for a .5 frequency. I note that similar issues were raised in the past for FSX. With East Midlands being my closest airport in the real world I often fly in/out of here and the EME NDB has a frequency of 353.5, but I cannot find a way to tune this. Any ideas?

Flying out of Land's End to St Mary airport, both available at Aerosoft, following real worlds flights. GREAT scenery!! Pictures below are from Land's End. And of course, the Skybus livery would have been more appropriate here, but I'm flying with the Flybe in FSEconomy 🙂

Anyone know what triggers the overstress event that ends your flight abruptly? I know overspeed does it but is after a certain percentage of overspeed or a defined duration, possibly a combination of both?

  11. I found this pic of C-GIWD, owned by FlightExec in Buttonville, Ontario. I love Aerosoft's Twin Otter and fly it all the time. I would be nice, though, to not have to zoom in to see the current Garmin unit for navigation purposes.

This may just be my sim, but I'm seeing Twin Otters as AI at airports all over the world. I've checked all the aircraft.cfg files and all have icao_generic=0, isAirTraffic=0 and even canBeUsedByAITraffic=0 as they should do. I only have 3 or 4 other add-on aircraft and none of those show up as AI with these same settings. As far as I know, it just can't happen but this Canadian floatplane is at Norman Manley International, Jamaica: I should also add that I use Simple Traffic (offline) at 30% with Ground Traffic at 25%.

Just started using the Twin Otter in MSFS. Nice to have it in MSFS now. Spawn the Otter Floatplane on a lake (PALH , Lake Hood) and cannot idle (zero kts). Always moving 7kts or more. Note: Same Otter in P3Dv4 idle thrust is ok , zero kts. I use FSUIPC for axes and assignments.

I just bought the DHC-6 through the in-game Marketplace on 3/31. Yesterday I loaded it in the sim and was unable to get the engines to start from cold condition on the ramp. I get past the gg>=12% and then I push the fuel level forward, but the engine does not ignite, it just stays on starter motor. gg does go up to something like 40, but no farther. If I then set starter switch back to center, the engine just spools down to stop. This happens with both engines. I followed the checklist exactly, and also followed along with the manual start process in a video review (Jan 6th review by "Into the Blue Simulations", after Update 1). Fuel ga…

Whenever I start cold and dark in the amphibious Twin Otter, by the time I have set up the plane it has drifted onto the rocks. Is there anyway to prevent this? Can we have a mooring rope or anchor to use?

Would really appreciate if someone would do this paint for the DHC6-300 Amphibian. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:European_Coastal_Airlines_Twin_Otter_in_Split.jpeg Cheers Wolfgang

Sorry if it is reported already, i did not find it. In the 300 Wheels Cargo Version the Chrono stays dark without any display. And the Altimeter does not show thousands. You can see both in the screenshot, i am at 4.500 ft at this moment. I am quite sure that both is working correct in Tundra Versions and Wheels Pax as well. I have not tested more.

De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter series 300 in Air Panama livery Twin Otter serial number 360 was acquired by Air Panama in 2004 and served there for about 15 years, registered as HP-1509PS. The airframe was repainted presumably around 2009 from a red and blue pin running from back to front, to a blue and red horizon. This livery is the latter. Air Panama was founded in 1980, and is based at Albrook "Marcos A. Gelabert" International Airport (MPMG). No Twin Otters are serving in current fleet. What climb performance does everyone get? Max gross, prop 75%, 45% TQ. I get around 6 FPM Cruise 120 kts indicated. I had better performance than that with CCMs mod, the new work around i get similar performance. If I move the prop lever to max, adjust TQ back to 40% cruise speed is 130 kts. Don't know if something is causing this bug.

Aerosoft team, are there any plans to make changes to the fuel system? Specifically, do you plan to implement the primary Fore/Aft pumps so that the engines will not operate without them being switched on? I understand that you never intended to simulate failures on any scale but it seems pretty basic that you need to cut on the fuel for normal operations. Are there any other changes planned or are you guys done, aside from the promised forthcoming sound package?

I'm just getting started flying the Aerosoft Twin Otter (despite having bought it on the day it was released). As a result, I think I'm a bit behind on the learning curve relative to most people here. So my question is this: Are there tutorials laying around here somewhere? I see mentions here on this forum of videos, but no links? I flew it on a short flight this evening and the autopilot doesn't make any sense to me: 1. I don't seem to be able to fly it in heading mode only? As soon as I engage it in Hdg mode, even with Alt and VS buttons off, it wants to control my altitude? How do I turn off the altitude control while leaving the heading contro…

Guys, I just finished my MSFS 2020 update (the latest one) so I went into my content manager and noticed a large update for the Twin Otter, it downloads to 100% or less and it starts downloading again. Any instructions on what should I do? Thanks in advance

The chrono only seems to show UTC time, and not local time. Is that by design, or did I miss a button or setting anywhere?

  24. Started by John2,

The release notes for 1.0.5 mention a new spoiler. What up with that? I didn't think the Twin Otter had spoilers. John.

Will the 1.0.5.0 update ever make it to the marketplace? I thought it might happen with the WU8 but still nothing.
