Aerosoft Twin Otter

All the support and discussion about the Aerosoft Twin Otter for MFS.

  1. Hello, since the sound patch, the Twin Otter is taken out of my Hangar and goes for some flights. But i have a strange issue, im not sure if i do something wrong. - ALT is set to 9000 ft. The KAP140 and the SET ALTITUDE DISPLAY both show the 9000 ft. - I take off manually, go on my course, then i activate the AP (no matter if on the KAP140 or on my Honeycomb Bravo, tried both) --> The SET ALTITUDE DISPLAY changes immediately to 1000 ft above my current altitude. Every 100 fts, it goes one step up (all the time) and beeps like hell because i reach the next 100 fts altitude. I can not change the SET ALTITUDE when i turn the knob. So…

I started another flight after doing a few today. I am familiar with this plane and fly it in all conditions. One my most recent flight - I tried it a couple times after reboot and restart of FS - the plane would not climb and the stall warning kept sounding. Airplane is configured properly. Weather conditions make no difference. Something suddenly changed. Any ideas?

  3. Hey guys, Since WT has released their GNS430 beta on the marketplace, I've been inclined to try it with the Aerosoft Twin Otter. One of the bugs I'm seeing is the failure of the HSI/OBS instruments to participate in the GNS units' self tests: As you can see, the upper GNS unit is in self test mode. The Indications fail to accurately reflect the GNS command positions (excluding the HSI course selection for the upper and lower). For reference, this is generally the self-test state for a fully loaded HSI (with the OBS not representing the vertical command data, of course) Other than that, the GPS indications on the GNS unit see…

  5. Flying in the twin otter, I'm noticing some non-physical behavior between the alerter and the autopilot panel: the alerter should only act as an alerter, but the altitude in the alerter and the autopilot are slaved to each other: Microsoft Flight Simulator - 1.29.28.0 2022-11-12 10-44-53.mp4 Of course, as you see above, changing the altitude in the autopilot panel changes the altitude in the alerter window. The alerter window doesn't have a control mechanism to automatically adjust the selected altitude. My recommendation is to remove the slaving of both altitude values from each other, and leave the alerter on the left as an independe…

Would it be possible for the float variant of the twin otter to receive improved water spray effects? Currently, the wake following the aircraft looks good, but there is a severe lack of water spray from the props. I've attached two photos showing the takeoff roll of the twotter that should highlight the lack of spray in the sim.

  7. The transponder unit should be should pressure altitude, not indicated altitude. If you see the screenshot here, the transponder is showing a Pressure Altitude of 002, not 000. If you do the math with my altimeter (shown to the left of the image), you'll see that my actual pressure altitude is 000.

  9. In the manual (v1.02) on page 68, four tests are described: Autofeather test; Propeller governor test; Beta range test; Power lever switch test. None but the last of these tests seem to be working as expected in the manual. Autofeather test - expected behavior: "Autofeather arm" light turns on when torque > 20 psi and autofeather test switch is turned on. Pulling back one of the levers, prop will be feathered. Actual behavior: Arm light never comes on, prop isn't feathered when the power lever is pulled back. Propeller governor test - expected behavior: When propeller governor/overspeed test switch …

Hi everyone Still no news about the DHC6 Twin Otter in MSFS Xbox ? I can't wait

  11. This has been bugging me for a while, and now just enough to make a post about it. Something about this lighting feels incredibly unnatural. The sharp edges look like haphazardly cut polygons rather than warm lights emanated from the stand-off light posts the lights are coming from: For contrast, here's a similar picture of an illuminated engine panel from a twin otter: There is shadowing, but those shadows are those cast by: Standoff posts against other standoff posts The raised dial casting a shadow from the standoff posts' lights. I guess I'm asking...would it possible to revisit the shadows and have them …

For some reason, it does not allow me to turn the landing lights on. They appear stuck in the off position. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and why I am not able to turn them on? Thanks in advance for any help.

Since a few years Garmin has had the G950 (retrofit version of G1000) available for the Twin Otter. The British Antarctic Survey's Twin Otters have for example been upgraded. Here are a few links to look at if interested: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/aviation/british-antarctic-survey-upgrades-twin-otter-g950/ http://aerocorpavionics.com/services-and-repairs/garmin-g950/ https://www.flyingmag.com/avionics-gear-retrofit-avionics-garmin-expands-glass-panel-retrofit-availability/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foPnQcynQrI I would love to se an upgrade package to the Aerosoft Twin Otter with the MSFS stock G1000 / Working Title G1000 NXi on th…

  16. ... and the moment we get those we can update the sound set.

  17. Just thought I'd raise the issue to make it known, there's a typo in the cockpit textures - the pitot static norm/emerg selector lever is incorrectly labeled as "PILOT STATIC" in both the texture and the tooltip.

  18. when using vor in the twin otter, the only way to read the distance is within the display of the garmin gps, this is not very readable (very small letters to read) A dedicated DME showing freg. distance and speed, as is common in many other planes would be most welcome there is plenty of space on the flight instrument panel for this .

  19. Started by Redfox2045,

Just started flying the Twin Otter and found a weird bug. On both flights I did I was able to get it up in the air fine. But when it came time to descend I was trying to figure out the AP to go into V/S mode and ended up just turning alt hold off. Each time it waits about a second then gives the "your plane suffered critical damage" message and ends the flight. First flight was at 1500ft second at 9,000. So I'm not going into a dive and hitting the ground. Any ideas what's happening? Literally can't complete a flight atm. Just got the aircraft this week. Thanks

Is there any way to improve the stability of the plane? I feel like i'm having to fight it all the time. It's as twitchy as a fighter jet, and not stable, like the Twin Otter is purported to be. Is there any kind of setting adjustment you might suggest? The default TBM is easier to hand fly than this. I don't want to just flip on the autopilot and forget it, that's not very fun in a smaller plane like this! Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks!

OK I'll be the AH that asks, It has been over a month since 1.0.6 Twin Otter update was issued to non Microsoft purchasers. Can you please tell us why we cannot install the latest update. I don't want to speculate why Microsoft has not issued the update. I would rather here from you why they have not. We spent the same hard earned money as everyone else, should be considered customers like everyone else and would like some feedback other than "I don't know" If you do not know please contact Microsoft or Asobo and support your product for us.

  25. I start off at the ramp at an airport with a cold, dark airplane. After running the checklists to get it powered on and engines started I am unable to move the airplane at all. Parking brake is off, engines are powered up and the throttles are moved forward and the engines rev up but the airplane will not move. I thought that maybe the chocks are in but there is no option to remove them from ground control and visually I don't see any chocks. I've tried different locations at different airports and I get the same problem. It doesn't happen with other airplanes, only the Twin Otter. If I start from a runway with the engines already running I don't have t…
