Rick Desjardin (one of our favorite reviewers btw) reviewed Kastellerizo X for AVSIM. And he likes it! He concludes: "The world of FSX has been enriched with this add-on. You can enjoy the beautiful rendering of yet another Greek island paradise and an airport that even a seasoned pilot would find challenging. to sum up; I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this package and I give it my highest recommendation". Read the full review here (note that you need a AVSIM login for that): http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/reviews/scenery/fsdg-kastellorizo-x-for-fsx-from-aerosoft-r1599 or the product go here: http://www.aerosoft.com/products/kastellorizo-x/kastellorizo…

A fine (and very long review that concludes: "I own and have reviewed many aircraft and the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended is at the top of the list for quality and features. The Twin Otter is the complete package with impressive textures, sounds and animations but also has a very realistic flight model with engine failures/fires and structural icing conditions. Even with the realistic flight model it is still a very nice aircraft to hand fly. The installed autopilot works very well and is also compatible with my Saitek Multi-Panel hardware. The extra features are what make the Twin Otter Extended stand out from most other aircraft available today." You can find it on T…

Angelique van Campen tries to pick up her work at ASN XP. One of these jobs is writing reviews and impressions of mostly freeware products and sometimes payware. This time it’s the recent released or updated Beechcraft Baron 58 from Carenado. It’s updated from version 1.0 to version 2.0 and now fully compatible with X-Plane 10 32/64 bit too. Curious if she liked the updated Baron 58? Check it out by following this impression link.

New staff reviewer Giorgio Giammaria flies straight to Aerosoft’s X-Plane Anchorage and tries to find out if this airport scenery is worth buying it. According to Giorgio “As expected Anchorage airport scenery is an excellent scenery and reflect the high quality of the Aerosoft products. The huge amount of details and quality of buildings and textures is remarkable. There are only few static aircraft all around but if on one side this give a sense of emptiness, on the other side makes you free to park your plane where you want. The particular location and the versatility of the airport allow you to simulate whatever kind of flight in a striking environment.” You’…

Staff reviewer Paul Racines dives into the world of real weather. With so many real weather programs, you could ask yourself … is it worth testing another? The answer is quite simple for Paul … YES, it is and it is PILOT’S FS Global Real Weather! According to Paul “It’s being fed the proper nutrients by a caring staff in the form of excellent features, ease of use, and reliability.” But there’s so much more to tell about FS Global Real Weather. My review and experience with this beautiful aircraft was a bit frustrating. I had some time off, limited money (like many of us), and a budget to support at least one decent add-on for flight simming. Since updating x-plane 10 to 64 bits I have fallen in love with it, and have now reduced my time on FSX, in favor of this awesome sim b/c it finally allows me to use all my high-end PC resources to run lots of eye-candy, with super realistic fluid dynamics (yes air is a fluid), while enjoying a silky smooth flight experience. So with my weeks vacation giving me some fun time allowance I spent my budgeted $30.00 (USD) bucks on the newly released, and advertised Carenado -…

Staff reviewer Jeffrey Chen tries to find out everything of the MiG-29 Fulcrum, which is one of the early fourth-generation fighters, designed in the 1970s. According to Jeffrey “Is the MiG-29 really worth it? Well, it depends on the type of simmer you are.” And Jeffrey continues “If you’re a perfectionist and want an aircraft with realistic performance (like me), well, you’ll have to spend some time fixing the flight model. If, on the other hand, you’re someone who just wants a high quality fighter in X-Plane, then the MiG-29 is definitively for you. The dogfights are fun with the F-22A, especially if you restrict yourself to only use the cannon.” Developer Colimata an…

A fine review of Mykonos X and Gilbraltar X over at AVSIM. They conclude: In conclusion, these two sceneries are well worth the investment. The download version Gibraltar X comes at a price of $20.27 USD while Mykonos X comes at a slightly higher cost of $21.34 USD. The quality of these sceneries is very high and it not only entails the airports themselves but also the surround areas. Read the full review here

One of Angelique’s favourite hobbies is flying GA aircraft. That said, staff reviewer Angelique van Campen tries out Carenado’s latest XP10 model, the Cessna CT210M Centurion II. Angelique thinks “Flying this aircraft is fun. It’s an easy aircraft to fly manually and, of course, with the basic Auto Pilot. Even playing around with steep turns, slow flights and stalls are all possible without losing aircraft control.” But there’s more “Although most of the instruments are old-fashioned indicators, it’s still a good looking aircraft, and worth being a member of your GA collection.” You can read her complete in-depth CT210M review via this link.

Aerosoft Sim News staff reviewer Stephen Dutton flies to Germany, or to be exactly to the airport of Düsseldorf. This gives him the possibility to check Aerosoft’s latest creation; Airport Düsseldorf for X-Plane 10. According to Stephen; “Airport Düsseldorf is overall an excellent scenery for X-Plane 10, the quality of the airport buildings and textures are absolutely first rate, the layout is of a very good standard as well. You get a lot of scenery for your money and nothing in the way of buildings and infrastructure is lacking here.” He continues “If you love detailed scenery and on this scale then you will want Airport Düsseldorf.” When you want to read all of i…

We love a review that has a personal touch and this one has it: "I was skeptical of this add-on at first, although as I said, I really like the real life DR400. The screenshots didn’t really convince me, and the feature list didn’t captivate me. But when I started flying the Robin in FSX, things changed. I really got to like it. It doesn’t boast the highest definition textures, or the glossiest finish, or the highest amount of animations, but that certainly doesn’t diminish its value. And while it doesn’t boast an enormous amount of fancy system-stuff on first sight, it does surprise you with its features when you start paying attention. It’s not the most impressive aircr…

A extensive review of the Mega Airport Dusseldorf at FlightSim.com. They conclude: "If you would like to inhabit Germany's third most popular and busy Airport, then EDDL is a good option for you. As one of the main western European hubs, it will provide you with plenty of diversity, and I am sure, much pleasure". Check out the review here.

A very nice review of the Airbus X Extended by twinotter,de (our partners for the Twin Otter prject). Ramzzess/Philipp 777 Worldliner Professional/Extended was reviewed positively by ASN in an extensive and readable review. "If you like the Boeing 744, 777, Airbus A380, McDonnell Douglas DC10, MD11 etc. then this 777 Worldliner Professional is an awesome choice... The 3D flight deck is great. Great in frame rates, and keep in mind the complexity of the programmed EFIS, EICAS and FSM CDU." Check it out here.

Two reviews of the Airbus X Extended were just posted. simmernews.com wrote: "Another Airbus for FSX again – but what answers the new version of the old Airbus X with the auspicious suffix “Extended”? Quite much in my opinion, and to go to such lengths the Airbus X Extended is the best or rather most consequent realized Airbus available on the market yet.. ...I can really suggest the purchase of this plane to every airliner pilot and IFR lover as it is the most consequent realized and maybe also the best Airbus A 320 simulation on the market yet." The major Polish New Sky wrote: The new Airbus X Extended is definitely a step in the right direction and with the upco…
