As mentioned ... it should run well enough, check the card is not overheating (is the fan on the card actually working?) a recent Nvidea driver (that has been withdrawn) actually stopped the fan on the card and damaged some, assuming all is well in normal apps and other games though? ... try knocking back some of the detail sliders in RoF. My vid card has 1GB of memory and with RoF maxed out the video memory usage is at 96% I believe the GTS you have has 512MB ... right?
There was a new Nvidea 257.21 WHQL driver release yesterday, might be an idea to try that one.
Finally, try un-installing RoF after installing the new video driver, reboot then install RoF again, go with default graphic settings and gradually work your way up to find the sweet spot.
Hope you get it sorted.
Now, THAT's news to me, thank you!
I had a driver conflict a few months back with my Nvidia driver to the point I couldn't boot the machine. The fellow who built it identified the problem and rolled back the driver, fixing the situation in about five minutes.
I noticed the Nvidia control panel I'd been using was gone, but there have been no further problems and I can hear the fan spool up after ROF or another resource intensive program's been running for a couple of minutes. I'll be keeping an eye out for problems after seeing this though, appreciate the heads-up, and it sounds like it helped schweiger here too, good job
