GTAV with the LSPDFR mod.

So it seems that it's working? Though that due to all the updates steam pushes out it gets broken everytime and no one wanted to spent too much time on fixing it each time it was broken

Yep Eric, Hans Hartmann (if we allow him to take half an hour off from the CRJ) and Jon are a wing in Elite Dangerous.

I am right now transporting slaves like a Polish trucker (and I like Poland okay?)

I've been looking at ED for a while now. It just seems there isn't much of anything to do. Well, a hell of a lot more than Star Citizen, but it's still lacking a lot of content. I might pick it up in a year.

We have been exploring, bounty hunting, running system security, mining, trading, undermining enemy systems and fortified our own systems. I have also done humanitarian relief, hunted a fugitive and I dropped of pamphlets. I still have to explore pirating and smuggling. I would say there is a lot to do!

We've been playing a lot of A3.

The most prevaling statements I keep hearing about ED are:

The core experience of spaceflight, frameshift, getting around, combat -- fun as hell. The universe built around that core experience is completely awful. If you had the depth of content that EVE has with Elite's gameplay mechanics, it'd be one of the greatest games ever made, by a mile. I'm in the same boat. I'm just bored. I expected more than a handful of ships and upgrade opportunities, more from an always-on universe. It's a mile wide and an inch deep. I think it's easily the most immersive space sim you have, but it is very much what you make it.

So little attention was paid to content that it's a criminally underdone game, and it has so much potential in the core experience.

They forgot to add meaning to the game. Metagame, grand strategy, depth. So the game became a "back and forth" simulator. Add ships. Add components. Add enemies. But forget to give us something to fight for.

For sure, but what's lacking in Elite is a game. It's a well-polished mechanic but lacking a motivation to play. Normally the grinding serves to facilitate advancement of the game or some such, but in Elite the grinding is the game.

Do you agree with these sentiments at all, Mathijs?

I partially agree with those statements. Indeed as in many of these games there are periods when you just lust for a bigger ship and need to spend a lot of hours 'making money'. Repetitive work (but you can do it in dozens of ways so you can alternate). For the big picture the PowerPlay option that was added a few weeks ago provides does provide the depth and grand strategy when you are looking for that. I can only assume the comments were written early because you now have thousands of people fight thousands of others. Sometimes by undermining another system, sometimes by disrupting their commerce and sometimes by actually invading.

I tried Eve three times and never got hooked on it, this is so much more fun.

For me however, flying around in a wing with 3 Aerosoft friends is plenty exciting for now. My desk is full with paper with scribbled notes on what disrupter goes best with what power distributor and how it affects the jump range. Just as with FS (and TS) it's the depth and study needed that makes it so much fun.

That's good to know. I spent at least 15 minutes on the Steam page, going back and forth, looking at the forum posts and trying to decide if I should get it. I think I may hold off until it's patched some more and provides a bit more depth.

Some BF4.
