MCDU via webserver combination topic

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Had the same problem with the 320/321. Tried the mentioned steps, didn't work. Then i just tried to run AirbusXConnectExtended.exe as an administrator. Once i did that, i changed the page on the mcdu in the aircraft itself, and now it seem to work. So please, try that also. Kinda curious if it's really that simple, and if i solved an issue that's been going on for a long time :D

Dear Mr Kok,

frankly, i am quite disappointed about the support and the quality of your software you are offering to us - your customers. We trusted in the product you offer, we trusted in the correctness of its description, including the stated system requirements. Based on this trust we purchased your software - and of course payed money for it.

Mr Kok, there are reports about the MCDU webserver issue since years (!) and your support for the product you are promoting with an MCDU webserver is restricted to remind your customers to have the respective option in the configurator enabled? Would you really want to tell your customers and especially your future customers that this is the kind of support we can expect from aerosoft?

Please let me emphasize that you promote your product with features which are repeatedly reported not to work - even when the stated system requirements are fulfilled - even on a fresh system. Is this your business practice?

Early in the discussion about the issue a customer posted a logfile containing the lines

Zitieren

PIPE: Unable to open named pipe \\.\pipe\MCDU_Input w/err 0x00000005

[...]

Failed to open image file: G:\Documents\Aerosoft\Airbus\MCDU_Dspl.png

where the mentioned error code 0x5 stands for windows system error code "ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED". Interestingly there are no statements of yours regarding this obvious problem regarding named pipes and windows integrity. But it is well known that the system behaviour regarding this topic changed on Vista, 2008 Server, Windows 7, etc. So as long as these error messages will be logged in file "AirbusXConnectExtended.log", the webserver cannot work since the pipe connecting the involved components cannot be read from/written to.

Would you please speak to us - your customers - in this forum and tell them whether

  • they can trust in your product descriptions of software purchased,
  • they can expect items/features listed there to work when stated (system) requirements are met,
  • you intend to fix this aforementioned access control/windows integrity pipe issue.

I am looking forward to your answers.

Yours sincerely,

Dennis

It's mentioned in the thread already that people tried running the exe as administrator and still without any luck. I tried that the first thing when it wouldn't connect and no change.

Thanks for your suggestion nonetheless.

Hey,

i fly the 319 with the left MCDU on my Tablet. All works fine, but.

At take off -> End off the Flight, comes heavy FPS-Impacts. Normaly 30-35 fps, with impact 8-11 fps.

Crazy stuttering. Unflyable :(

I have all the Post read. From reinstall over Config-Manager , FMGS.ini, Firewallports, ect.

After disconnct AirbusX-Connect, the impacts gone instant away and the frames are normaly.

Running System: I5 2500k @ 4,5 ghz, 16gb Ram, gtx970, 1 SSD for the systemdrive and 1 500bgb SSD only for P3D 3.1

After reconnecting the Airbus X Connector, i can´t pres anything on my tablet. But from the VC it works, the chages from cockpit will translate into the mcdu / tabelt.

without stuttering and fps impacts.

Any idea ?

greetings

Hello,

I have the same issue as some of the above: A320/321 v. 1.31, MCDU background image is visible but not functional, but I can pause/resume the sim from the previous page (before clicking on MCDU).

The MCDU_Dspl.png is missing altogether.

It is the same when I open the IP in Internet Explorer on the same machine my FSX is running on, so it is not browser specific (Safari on iPad).

Oh, yes, and I always run the AirbusXConnect Extended as an Administrator.

Since some users say that it works for them when they are using the AirbusXConnect of the A318/319, would it be possible to supply that piece of Software (I only have the 320/321)?

Many thanks in advance,

best

Thomas

Greetings

I hade the same problem with the MCDU_Dspl.png not showing.

What I did that solved it was I started the Sim. runed AirbusXconnect Extended as Administrator then I open up the Aerosoft.X.AirbusX.Configurator as administrator uncheched Webserver and rechecked it again and vola I got it working.

Try that and see if that helps

Andreas

Hi,

Another unhappy customer here.

Yes, I've tried steps 1 - 6 (successfully)  - Step 7, same as everyone else, no image in the display of the 'web MCDU'. Nor do the buttons send any commands back into the sim.  As well same error about not being able to open the named pipe.

Alcatsa,  I was hopeful what you had said would work for me, no luck sadly.  What version of windows are you using?

Can this community get some good help from the dev?  It seems like the named pipe issue is the "smoking gun". If so many people are having issues with the same error, are there not other methods to achieve the software connection ?  It is disappointing to purchase this otherwise great product, just to find a very useful feature is being problematic for so many individuals (yes, shame on me for not 'researching' before buying...) - but a re-work on how AirbusX connects to the sim would make a lot of happy customers I would imagine.

I recently purchased the A320/321 package and accessing the MCDU via my IPad was one of the functions I was really looking forward to, but I have the same blank MCDU in my web broswer issue. Having found this thread I was expecting to find the solution and be on my way.

However, no such luck and I have to say I am disgusted by the overwhelming lack of support from Aerosoft on this issue. Come on Aerosoft, you advertise this function as part of your product and it clearly doesn't work for a large number of users. This thread was started by Mathijs in acknowledgement of the problem, but the last official update was on 15 June 2015 (9 months ago!) to say it is complicated but we are looking at it! Since then, nothing. Not even an update on what is happening.

I have found support to be pretty good amongst most developers in the flightsim world, especially the larger ones, but I have so say my first experience of Aerosoft so far is not good.

Start showing some respect to your customers and explain what you are doing to make sure the product we have bought from you functions at advertised.

I recall seeing an another forum, where a guy has developed a payware FMS to your mobile/tablet etc for 10 Euro. Users said fantastic for several of the PMDG products. Maybe if Aerosoft not too interested in sorting this issue out, give up and hope the guy develops the payware version for the AB series.

Well, the problem is still unsolved, and I am having doubts about aerosofts will to help customers.

Guys,

Please.  There is only so many times this can be addressed.  A LOT of work being done on many different fronts.  This is on the list to do, so PLEASE be patient.

I fixed this problem by running the web server software for the A318_A319 instead of the A320_A321. I run FSX as administrator, then I select my A320 airplane and wait for the loading. When the loading is finished, I run the AirbusXConnectExtended (Web Server) for A318_A319 as administrator and it works perfectly. I tried this many times and in different computers and OS versions. I noticed that if I try to open first the web server from the A320_A321 folder, the MCDU remains blank. Then, If I try to open the web server from the A318_A319 folder, the MCDU will still remain blank. In that case, I need to restart my FSX and run the correct web server (A318_A319) from the beginning in order to work. On both Airbus Configurators (A318_A319 and A320_A321), the web server option is enabled. Also, it works even if you have your Windows firewall/antivirus enabled. (Aerosoft Airbus version: 1.31 - Tested on Windows 7 and Windows 10).

Hey, I see that you are using Prepar3D. I haven't tested if the MCDU worked using prepar3D before, so I tried and it worked. I did exactly the same as I did for the FSX. I loaded an A320 airplane, and I started the web server for the A318_A319 MCDU. It worked. Here is a picture of the web server:

and here is a picture of the actual MCDU:

Are you sure that the Web server option is enabled at the Airbus Configurator and that you are running the web server as an Administrator (For me it will only work as administrator)?

Hello,

unfortunately, using the A318 MCDU is not an option for me, because I only have the 320/321 version. I am a bit disappointed to see that no other solutions exists. Is it possible for Aerosoft to provide the working ConnectExtended to 320/321 customers as well? It shouldn't be a big problem to add it as a seperate download package like the liveries.

I having problems open XconnectExtended. It gives me the following whether I open in ADMIN or not:

"C:\program files (x86)\Lockheed martin\prepar3dv3\aerosoft\airbusa320_a321\airbusXconnectExtended.exe"

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe. tool for more detail."

Running Windows 10

Prepar3d v3

Aerosoft Airbus A320/A321 v1.31

Hey,

since there have been several reports that the A318/A319 Connect Extended works fairly well with the A320/A321, would it be possible to somehow make this one available to those who only own the A320/A321 (like me)?

If it really works, that would be a nice and simple solution.

It is a bit disappointing that in spite of ongoing customer complaints in this thread there hasn't been a reply for quite a while.

Best

Thomas

Another one here. Running both (FSX Steam and AirbusXConnected) as Administrator. Still I get the access error when trying to open the MCDU_Input named pipe. Since people report it works with the AirbusXConnected version supplied with the A318 series, is there anywhere an option to download that version?

thanks,

I have managed to get the A318/319 MCDU to operate on my tablet but the A320/321 does not.

It seems it only works with A318/A319 - can devs please fix it for A320?

Thanks!

For the love of God Aerosoft, please, please, please can you get this sorted. This function was a major reason I purchased your product and it does not work. Your software does not work as advertised and frankly you don't seem to be making any effort to resolve it.

I don't accept your explanation that you are busy but will get around to it at some point. At the top of your list of priorities should be fixing that software you have sold to customers who bought it in good faith which does not work properly, not in developing new products to sell for more money. If you cannot get this fixed, then I would like a refund on my software please.

So the one characteristic that isn't presently working (without using the work around, under which it does work) is the reason you're so distraught?  Forgive me for putting that into perspective, but I'm just trying to understand.

General:

  • Simulation of the Airbus A320 and A321 focused on the day to day operation of the aircraft from the left seat
  • Late model cockpit (with LCD and updated ADIRS)
  • Sublime modeling/texturing based on the latest technologies. Very easy on frame-rates.
  • All lights created with the best technology which actually lights objects up
  • Dozens of non-standard animations, all with sound effects (sun screens, windows, tables, tiller, jump seat, standby compass, drooping flight surfaces etc). All main doors and cargo hatches can be opened. Extensive options to show ground objects (cones, ground power etc) and to actually provide ground power
  • Included web server that allows you to access (and use) the MCDU via any web browser; ideal for tablet computers
  • Many systems programmed in XML to allows users to change code
  • Extensive manuals, with highly detailed step-by-step document, Checklist and procedures also available in eBook format
  • Prepared for Airport Enhancement Services. Fully compatible with GSX.
  • SDK will be available, LINDA connectivity available
  • Add-in system that allows the aircraft to be extended with 3rd party applications (all using the right MCDU)
  • Add-in View system: adds many pre-defined views for easy use, emulates 2D panel views
  • Add-in Sound system: adds hundreds of background sounds to enhance the immersion
  • Add-in Checklist system: semi-automated audio checklists

Systems:

  • Fully custom Fly-by-Wire systems with flight envelope protection, stall protection, pitch and roll limiter, g-load limiter, over speed protection, Alpha Floor protection, auto trim. Very nice to manually fly
  • Fully custom autopilot systems, with full Cat III auto land, V/S, Managed CLB/DES, OP CLB/DES, heading and NAV modes. VNAV and LNAV included. FPA/TRK included.
  • Fully custom thrust computer systems (FADEC), throttle with detents, FLEX take-off
  • Full featured MCDU (can be controlled via web browser, for example on tablet computers), also, information can be inserted using the keyboard!
  • Flight plans supports SIDs, STARs, transitions, approaches, go-arounds, holds, Managed climbs and descent, constraints, and direct-to route editing
  • VOR tracking implemented, DME arcs supported
  • Comes with NavDataPro (LIDO) navigation database (AIRAC 1409) but backwards compatible with Navigraph. Includes current AIRAC Data at the time of release and this can be updated by the user at any moment.
  • Complete FS2Crew Runway Awareness and Advisory System included (a €30 value!)
  • 14 ECAM pages included, showing relevant aircraft information.
  • Full featured Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) with 25 hour storage capacity and external display program (data can be exchanged with FS Flight Keeper, and a visual display of your flight can be exported to view in Google Earth).
  • Full features ADIR`s system.
  • Full feature TCAS system (including audio warnings) for AI Traffic, IVAO, VATSIM.
  • Full custom electrical bus system, with realistic battery run down and voltages.
  • Navigation display with curved lines, de-cluttering, stopwatch, selected navaid, runway information, range change, mode change, stopwatch etc. Includes Terrain Display option
  • Full featured loading and refueling module (interfaced with FSX) with advanced and simple mode.
  • Print option (not virtual, real printing) for performance sheet with V1, VR, V2, Runway Data
  • Fully functional Weather Radar with Manual and Multiscan. Works with ANY weather add-on (and even without weather add-on) and reads the actual weather that is inserted in FSX. This is a unique development!
  • Full custom fuel flow, avoiding standard FSX limitations.
  • Full custom auto brakes with constant deceleration instead of constant brake pressure.

Additional features:

  • Tiller can be operated by additional FSX Axis
  • Ground behavior (drag) realistic without tweaks to FSX
  • Advanced brakes with realistic brake temperatures (modeling Goodrich Carbon brakes)
  • Engine models fully updated, highly accurate thrust, EPR, N1,N2, EGT, FF
  • Includes A320 and A321 models with CFM and IAE engines with and without winglets
  • Includes 25 liveries with hundreds more available via our websites
  • APU with correct startup time
  • Various background sounds from cabin crew, flight crew and ATC (optional)
  • View panel bar to easily switch between various 2D (11) and 3D views (16)
  • Contains in total 16 Checklists from COCKPIT PREPARATION to PARKING
  • Checklists mainly start automatic based on the flight situation p. e. the BEFORE TAKE CL automatically starts when plane reaches the runway holding point, DESCENT PREPARATION CL 9 NM from TOD etc.
  • Orally spoken checklist items by the PF and confirmed by the PnF
  • Option included that the PnF also performs certain settings (gear up, flaps settings etc.) which are part of the checklists
  • Infobar displaying the next manually to be taken action
  • Integration of AES functionality (optional) e.g. different pushback procedures if AES is installed
  • Speed limiter p. e. if the speed below 10.000 feet exceeds 250 knots the PnF gives a warning and automatically (optional) extends spoilers until the speed is below 250 knots.
  • Option to pause FSX 10 NM before TOD or at next waypoint
  • Ground services (toggle of external objects, chocks, pylons, ground power unit)
  • Doors control (controls all doors and hatches)

New in Service Pack 3(Update for Box Customers | Update for Download Customers ):

  • Connected Flight Deck that allows you full multi crew flying (compatible with IVAO, VATSIM)*
  • Updated weather radar (now with turbulence mode) and still compatible with every weather add-on!
  • NavDataPro navigation database updated to April 2015 (!)
  • Updated ground friction model
  • A319 IAE engine now fully overhauled
  • Basic Holdings, Radial In and Place/Bearing functionality added

* only experimental

So it's that one feature, out of all the above, that has you evoking God?  Really?  Well, you're the customer, and Aerosoft has a long history of doing everything reasonable for customers.

If the feature being slated for future upgraded (remember, it does work via a work around) is keeping you up at night and upset to the point of evoking God, then please formally request a refund via a support request, and providing you refund request meets the other stipulations of such a request I'm confident you will receive a refund.

I wish you the very best, and hope you find other Aerosoft products more settling.
