Flying in this condition is no fun. Staying now in Kulusuk with a broken Bird. I continue in an other Plane.

A rough start in Iceland with some very turbulent air on climb out, followed by a serene flight into the cold.

Did it, but had to pay a high price...

At least 03 sets of pants. TS when departing, bumping and rebounding almost 70% of the trip, to find out a breathtaking approach (to the letter) from inner Greenland (what a lie), ruining my second set of pants and direct to a completelly forgettable landing, forgiven by the simulator (no crash, but I believe I left behind one of my wings in the right wall).

Very busy trying to correct a completelly unaligned approach to take shots, so accept the last ones.

Still praying...

Nice work Jon, you're making the trip sound so appetising. I will be doing mine in the working after a heavy night of alcohol induced Battlefield 4 with the guys from work.

It is, indeed, for expert pilots.

The problem is you cannot enjoy the approach while shitting your pants, but the final portion of the landscape seems to be glorious...

But too busy saying four letter words and praying to the whole set of gods...

Regards.

And waiting your nice set of photos...

Thanks Jon, mine will appear sometime tomorrow evening UK time. Doing this flight tomorrow morning then online flying in B-17's in the afternoon. You mention the the pant shitting induced approach, this is a little OT as I was flying the other way to the UK with friends online but it hights quite well but how crap with weather is in Greenland and how easily it is to shit your pants

700 feet just skimming the bottom of the cloud layer 8/8th coverage with mountains either side on the approach torunwy 07 Narsarsuaq. For once I actually had to use the NDB approach, I hate NDB's.

Did it, however had to fly a completely manual approach as I messed up the correct settings. :banghead1_s: I think I have to dive into the handbook again....

However, it's been a long one. Flight time 3h33 and nasty clouds for the last 100 nm. I tried to leave my FL240 early but got for the rest of the way snow showers an for quite a while Zero visibility. After passing NA, going down to 3600 ft, it was nearly completely blind (that's why I didn't find the opportunity to deal with my NAV controls properly). In total a nice flight with the need to find an opportunity changing my pants at he end... ( no screenies while in the NDB teardrop)

Here are some pics:

Jon,

Before leaving the place, you may want to install at least one of those sceneries http://flightsim.gl/scenery/. Specifically for BGSF it makes the world obviously much more realistic.

Good luck on that!

FL350 seems to be quite smooth so far, though its a somewhat fresh -54 degrees C outside, considering all that seperates me is a bit of aluminium and some plexiglass . I am how ever making good time my ground speed is a blistering 320 nautical miles per hour!

The flightsim.gl scenery is quite well made, but just to give you a comparison, here are a couple of very recent pictures.

bgbw_in_winter.JPG

This is from the hill just south of the runway, very close to DME NQ. We do have snow, but the snowbanks are not as severe as in the above sim picture ;-)

bgbw_in_winter2.JPG

Short final for RWY07.....
... OK, I you get this perspective, it might be too late to add power, I was standing on the ice on the fiord, hoping for the B212 to do something interesting ;-)

The theme for todays flight was embedded CB's and turbulence around Keflavik for the majority of the firt half of the flight. Total flight time was 3 hours. Due to the somewhat crap weather I started off my cruise at FL250 as it was the more favourable altitude for winds, though in the end managed to calmb
er u to FL350 due to the turbulence at FL250. The only drawback beng a 12kts headwind but thats no problem today as I have more than enough fuel onboard. The weather approacing Narsarsuaq deteriorated some what but the cloud base was pretty high making for a nice visual approach joining right downwind for runway 07. Dispight the favourable visability the winds were somewhat punishing, on turning final I had a 14kts gusting 24kts crosswind from the right which rapidly swung direction and became a light and variable wind pretty much down the runway on short final. Fortunately no brown pants on arrival at Narsarsuaq this time though my toes are somewhat frozen from the -54 degress chill at 35,000' feet

Not so pleasant trip yesterday, rain and strong winds at Keflavik, headwinds all the way to Greenland, and very low visibility at destination.

Hey folks! :hi2_s:

There was some trouble with my scenerey but overall a nice flight:

Real bad weather at BIKF during start up preparation and a ground texture not matching my Keflavik X. I took the A318 CJ in AS House Colors. EuroHarmony (my virtual airline) has no repaint for the baby bus :mecry_s:

post-134266-0-45674700-1425852788_thumb.

I was a little confused by the summer outfit of the ground crew :confused_s:

post-134266-0-48073600-1425852789_thumb.

Better some de-icing

post-134266-0-59574200-1425852790_thumb.

Right after push back the weather was nice and kept nice until take off

post-134266-0-42634500-1425852791_thumb.

A last view on Keflavik and then climbing up over the skies

post-134266-0-99839100-1425852791_thumb.

Bye Bye Iceland...

post-134266-0-88548100-1425852792_thumb.

and hello Greenland

post-134266-0-37581000-1425852793_thumb.

The weather at BGBW was not nice but good enough to land.

post-134266-0-83726200-1425852793_thumb.

Finally i was able to find a parking lot for the bus

post-134266-0-33269800-1425852794_thumb.

I had some trouble with the BGBW-scenery, too. I hope the next airport won't have any difficulties except flying ones... then it would be an adventure ;-)

I also wasn't able to get the BGBW scenery in P3D 2.5 running. Even the migration tool couldn't help. But with all the above screenshots I know at least how it should have looked like :-)
