Hello everyone!

First of all, thanks for looking at this topic.

I would like to know what the best laptop CPU is for my system and fsx/prepar3d.

I know, I have not the best system in the world...

I5-4200M

GTX760M

Windows 8.1 64-bit

Kind regards

For laptops start here: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/80074-running-demanding-simulations-on-laptops/

It's the cooling system that determines how good the laptop is for sims, all the rest is secondary. Personally I believe that only laptops designed as gaming laptops make any sense.

For how long did you run this test? A couple of minutes? Half an hour? A couple of hours? These semi-game laptops sometimes have the nasty habit to build up their heat slow, but eventually it'll be there anyway.

Given the specifications I think it'll run, but don't expect too much of it. Wether you are to upgrade something or not depends completely on your own wishes and of course on the size of your wallet.

Hi, Thanks for your respons, I ran the test for about half an hour. I did this with PMDG NGX, default scenery, reasonable settings (If you want I could post my cfg). I want to upgrade my cpu for a little more fps. Right now I am getting 25 fps with occasional drops to 18. The 25 fps is fine for me... I just want to get rid of the drops. To what laptop cpu should I upgrade? (I manly fly jetliners: NGX and aerosoft A319)

But the desktop doesn't need to be in the livingroom, does it? What about placing it in your own sleeping room?

But then he isn't getting out of that room.

Yes it is, My parents don't like it when A desktop is permantly in their nicely decorated interior..

I would not get a laptop for FSX, as Mathijs said only Gaming laptops make sense. Even then I wouldn't do it, desktop is the way to go (30 minutes testing with only the NGX and default scenery and reassonable settings isn't a real test ;))

I think you understood me wrong. I already have a laptop but I'm actuallly asking if a new cpu would be any better and if so what cpu that should be. I know I can't do max settings, max scenery addons etc. For me the plane and the sky is most important (rex soft clouds gives me to big fps impact).

And all the popes are telling you laptops (but those very expensive) are not the best choice for Flight simulating.

Laptops have the nasty habit of having small heatsinks, and simulators trend to charge the CPU as a half ton gorilla... Is a matter of surface needed to dissipate all the heat... or burn the micro...

Don't have the money for a serious Gorilla desktop, sorry if I was rude or something, English is not my first language...

My parents simply won't allow me to buy a desktop :mecry_s: :mecry_s: :mecry_s: , I know, They're better on every spot :lightbulb_s: . But It's with this laptop I have to do it for now :glare_s: . So does anybody know a good laptop CPU? :bow_down2_s:

Kind regards

No te preocupes, Agustín. Tampoco es el mio... Y se te entiende perfectamente.... Y no has sido maleducado en ningún momento

En resumen.. Ni el mejor laptop superará a un buen desktop, por la mera cuestión de capacidad de disipar calor.

Saludos

The problem with a laptop CPU (and that counts for every CPU) is that the faster the CPU the more heat it produces. So the cooler may be sufficient for one CPU, but it may not be for another. Sometimes it makes sense to choose a slower CPU to avoid overheating.

PatrickZ, Finally I understand what everyone tries to make me clear. Thank you very much!

My pc Actually is available whit stronger processors than mine. But at the time I bought It I wasn't really in to simulation, But I got the virus now. At the time I just didn't want to save my money any longer and I wasn't aware wich disadvantages a laptop had. I thought it was just the same but smaller... (at the time)

EDIT: If I am going to upgrade this pc, it's going to be done by a computer professional...
