Airbus 318-321 Over-speeding in cruise & Pitching up and down.

Hi all, ever since the update 1.20 for the A320/21 and 1.21 for the 319/19 my plane has been pitching up and down and over-speeding in cruise and the constant beeping of the master caution. The cruise alt is below the OPT cruise alt for the flights. Anyone got any ideas how to solve this?

I am experiencing the same thing and have seen other users have the same problem. I am running the latest version and during a recent flight, I climbed to cruising altitude using the "open climb" option. I leveled off and the speed of the airplane increased and entered an "overspeed" situation. The plane will then raise the nose to reduce the speed so that is why you are seeing the "pitching" response. I had to disable the auto throttle a few times and I manually reduced the speed to prevent the overspeed. I was not experiencing any significant tail wind but I did have a crosswind (I don't remember the speeds). This was using the 320 with the IAE engine variant.

Currently flying the A320 NEO CFM and all is going as planned. I completed an open climb to FL340 and speed has been maintained with no overspeed issues. I will report back if I experience the problem again but my FPS were in the high 30's and crosswind was from west to east (but I don't remember the speed of the crosswind).

Had exactly the same problem while cruising for about an hour in a 320 IAE. FPS around 20; ASN driven weather with a 120 knot tailwind in pretty clear sky. Could not control the airplane even after setting a lower Mach speed. This only happens at CRZ level while sailing along, never at ground level at lower FPS, nor while climbing. Will try to fly without ASN and see what happens.

Hope you solve the issue.

  • 2 weeks later...

This also happened to me a few hours ago, not very experienced with tube liners so I cannot describe the problem properly but I had overspeed and bobbing up and down when at CRZ FL320 Mach .78 climbing up to Mach .83, there was a 71knt tailwind at the time, I am just seeing the same as these guys and posting in support of them so hopefully you guys can sort it.

PS forgot to mention A320 CFM V1.21

Greetings.
I am not a professional pilot but I think Airbus makes this due to a sudden change in wind speed and to protect against overspeed, he begins to rise as early as possible to reduce the excess. To fix manual speed change and reduce it to prevent wind changes in the plane reaches overspeed. I hope the answer helps.

True, if you should really have such a windchange that makes the Airbus overspeed, then the Airbus will try to correct it by climbing or descending, depending on the condition.

I have found out that the framerate is one of the main problem. I now fly with P3D Fiber Accelerator and have no longer experienced any problem of overspeedind or bouncing.

But still if the Tailwind is strong, the Bus does overspeed and it seems not to work to fly in selected speed either. The solution I have to use it to manually set the throttle to stay Under the maximum speed.

I have all the above problems ,but I do know how to install hotfix 121c

need help step by step instructions (fsx se)

len

The FSX main directory should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\FSX by default, unless you installed it in a separate library or Steam in a different location. Copy the files from the ZIP to that directory.

They have released two hotfixes....have you applied them? The latest is 1.21c here:

http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/90825-hotfix-121c-hf-1-21c-fde-tweaks-and-various-fixes/

Yes I installed these hotfixes

The information here is not complete because there was so much going on, that I was unable to remember it all, but I will attempt to state what I remember and it maybe out of order.

Today while attempting a flight from EVRA to ENGM I experienced a sudden big increase in speed which caused an overspeed indication and an alert horn going off continuously . The barbers pole had disappeared and there was around 340Kt Indicated airspeed showing on the speed tape there was also a loss of altitude and then a speed loss to Alpha Floor. Don't know exactly what happened as I had popped out for a call of nature and got back to this over-speed. I used todays weather (late morning/early afternoon) I was not able to recover (inexperienced) and had to shut the simulator down.

THIS COULD BE AN IMPORTANT FACTOR:

I noticed that a Java update notification was in the notification tray, so looks like this may have caused the very large speed increase and over-speed. The question is did this cause the problem or was it a co-incidence?

There was a time when a big deal was made out of closing down services that were not required is this still the case bearing that in mind, what services if any does everyone close down before they fly? I am using Win 7 ultimate 64bit have a GTX460 GPU and 8Gb Ram.

Having enough problems trying to learn the airbus (don't fly tube liners normally) this stuff without services popping up out of nowhere and spoiling all the preperation I had done to do the flight getting in the way.

The Airbus in use at the time was the A320 CFM I don't have the A318/19 at this time.

That's my best shot at what happened sorry if it's not enough but I'm sure it will be fixed when enough data has been given, this is my experience for what it's worth.\

Thanks

Clive

Addition to my missive above, the reference (third paragraph) to 340Kt was because of a sudden loss of altitude which caused the loss of the barbers pole, it just went out of sight on the PFD. I had another shot at this flight this evening and Interestingly as I have uninstalled Java from my machine I had a perfect flight, speed was rock solid all the way from take-off to landing all in poor weather, snow and bad visibility, could it have been a co-incidence, yes so I will try another one tomorrow to see if that turns out to be as good as this one.

A318-CFM P3D V2.4 Hotfix 1.21c

FL340 @ 515GS FPS~= 17-18 (No weather FPS~=30)

Just wanted to advise that I encountered this problem on a recent flight.

I was using a server based weather feature thru FSInn

At cruise for quite some time everything was stable.

I then heard the warning horn and noticed that the speed was up and the aircraft was climbing, then decending and repeating this.

After a bit of this I decided to introduce the speed brakes.

The plane calmed down. After a while I turned off the speed brakes. The problem appeared again after a few minutes.

My next try was to turn off the weather.

The plane then behaved.

Some time later just before T/D I turned the weather back on. Problem came back.

I turned on the speed brakes.

Happy plane throughout descent.

Under 250 kn speed brake off and all went well.

May I attribute this behaviour with the weather in P3D ?

Note that I have used the same weather engine on flights before with no apparent problems.

Don't use FSInn weather. There is a known, unresolved bug where the temperature above FL300 is positive when it should be negative.
