Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted December 18, 2014 Aerosoft Share Posted December 18, 2014 Without a doubt there will be many questions about compatibility of our add-ons with the new FSX STEAM edition. Right now we can only say that we are checking it and will decide early next year if, how and when we'll support it. Of course if you want to install the add-ons you already bought into that version you are free to do so, we really feel that something you buy is for you to do with as you please, but we cannot offer any support for that at this moment. Good to know! I`m definitly not gonna by it! There is no reason to... The only thing they changed is the multiplayer stuff. Why should I have fsx twice? Really don´t get it because i have windows 8.1... and the problem that i have with FSX in 8.1 is that is crasht all the time... Thats why i buy the steam version because they said that it is win8.1 compatible. Now without addons.. it won't crash anymore.

tjh876 1
They also said that third party addons would work! Seems like they aren`t... But good luck! Yes, but that was more driven towards content (freeware mostly) that does not depend on the installation location of FSX, and are more copy/paste installs. I've have luck with some payware that will install, but some issues. I could not get the Airbus A318/19 to install because the installer could not find FSX in the location that the Steam Edition is located at after directing it to that location. Yes there are actually problems when you have the `normal` fsx and the steam version on the same computer. Heard of the same problem with the PMDG T777
Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted December 19, 2014 Author Aerosoft Share Posted December 19, 2014 Gents as said we are looking at this next year. Only on Wednesday did we get access to the new version and officially we simply do not support it at this moment.
Badfinger 62
lol they even start of by a price of 5 EUR for 12 hours DTG do that with TS2015 as well during the Steam winter sale. It is with DLC they will make a return on the investment. It is not priced cheap because it is FSX, it is priced to distribute the base simulator to many users as possiable to capture the DLC market. 1000 new users in the first 12 hours of release, what does that tell you. And that was only 1000 that were on MP for the first 12 hours. I think 3rd party developers are going to enjoy the steam version, as it opens up a whole new customer base. Edit: BTW the sale price is for 45 hours as of 8 hours ago, not sure were you got the 12 hours from. Lot of speculation and mis information going about. The dvd version is getting harder to find. Steam version works fine, not sure what your getting so confused about. All it needs is 3rd party installers for some addons. No big deal. Swift-R 3
Has anyone with the new FSX tried the registry repair tool from Flight1 to see if the 3rd party installers that don't work, work?

Ayster 41
I got it because 1) it was cheap only £3.99! 2) my fsx disks sounded really dodgy last time I did a re-install! 3) To support potential future FSX engine development. It just a shame that Dovetail didn't include a lot of the FS addon vendors in their beta, if they had we would probably be in a better shape from day 1 But devs are already coming up with solutions, and I'm sure that things will look better in the new year. Badfinger 62
Has anyone with the new FSX tried the registry repair tool from Flight1 to see if the 3rd party installers that don't work, work? You don't need that. The only thing you cannot do is install the dvd version after the steam version as that will screw the reg. FSX-SE has different folder names and does not effect the dvd version whatsoever. And you would only have two installed for testing. The main things that do not work is some DLL and GAU files, as fsx has a different version number. And that is up to the 3rd party developers to alter the installers to accommodate. Come on guy's its not rocket science, and I am not sure why some of you are having difficulty understanding it.

sancron 1
I also was buy the Steam Edition to compare the Performance of both. And the new Steam Edition run better on my System. More FPS. Also i am confused, some developer already confimred to Update their Products. To work with the new Steam Version (FSDreamTeam, FSUIPC). And some software already work with the Steam Edition e.g. the Airbus Series (A318 to A321). I've installed it and it runs. RAAS Pro also works. And many Addons already works with FSX:SE and some does not, like some scenery (Aerosoft Frankfurt Hahn). So it would be great, when Aerosoft clearly decide to Update they Products to support the Steam Edition. Also Aerosoft would maybe win some new Customers. Many of my Friends already bought the new FSX:SE but decide to wait of official Support for Addons if they not confirmed to working proberly with FSX:SE.
