Last Minute Change to EGLL Approach LAM3A

Using the standard STAR LAM3A for 27L/27R into London Heathrow (EGLL), the route before the waypoint LAM changes at the last minute to put a kink in the line.

When flying under VATSIM ATC control aircraft would normally receive vectors to fly heading 270 deg. The kink causes the aircraft to jink unexpectedly at the wrong moment.

This shows the planned route into EGLL up to the waypoint before LAM.

This is the same at lower range setting.

As soon as LAM12 is passed the kink appears. Unless Heading is Set (pulled), the aircraft will link to the right instead of smoothly turning onto the new heading after LAM.

I would expect the turn on to the new heading to occur either after the waypoint LAM or a smooth curve from the current heading onto the post LAM heading.

PS. This is the main approach for those flying from EHAM to EGLL!!

I saw the same issue today with the PU2DCS approach via SLL to 6L at LEBL - further the data, or the aircraft, made no attempt to follow the DME circle to the ILS approach path. As a side note, you all really need to implement the ability to use POS/DIST fixes in the 'Buses.

  • 3 weeks later...

The real Airbus has the same kind of bugs.

The pilot needs to correct them. That's actually where a pilot starts earning his money...

The first and maybe most imporant golden rule when flying Airbus:

If the Airbus does not do what you want it to do revert back to more besic modes. Flying NAV that means reverting to HDG, flying CLB/DES either to V/S or OP CLB/OP DES.

If all else fails turn the AP off and fly manually.
