Paint Request Thread Was Closed...

So appearantly, no one else is worthy to make any paints for this addon other than Holgi, eh? I mean the topic was closed and a personalized forum for a very specific member was then opened. Talk about a absolute slap in the face to the other painters out there. But hey, appearantly their work isn't good enough. That's just utterly shameful in my opinion.

That said, I can no longer be part of this community. If anyone would like my paints for backup purposes, I'd suggest downloading them now. I'll be removing them by the 25th.

Unfortunately , as the American Airlines A321 paints are a co-production with DetCord , these repaints will also be removed within the next few days .

It still surprises me that even after receiving the very same treatment with the release of the AirbusX , the attitude here on the forum has not changed . Because of this I removed some 80 repaints from the site . The fact that others asked me to continue made me change my mind and I started to upload again to the site .

Last year I brought up this very subject and received an " apology " from Mathijs Kok and was asked to visit the Flight Simulator Weekend at Lelystad to talk it over and was also offered a free beer for my trouble . All I got out of it was a 250km round trip and was out of pocket for the admission price to the museum and petrol . Even though this occurred I still kept uploading repaints to the site . This included uploading the entire Aer Lingus A320 / 321 fleet to coincide with the release of Aerosofts Dublin Airport . This was done of my own accord and not because of any " loyalty " to Aerosoft or it's customers .

There comes a point however when you have to ask yourself why you should bother to continue , as apparently any paints that are uploaded are not worthy ( as was my reaction to the closing of the repaint topic ) . Maybe I just do not understand why I would want to preview my repaints in a forum named after someone else as though we would be working under Holgi .

I did however receive a PM recently about the upcoming A320 / 321 release but have received no answer since my reply .

John, the issue with the closing of the topic and referring to the forum named after Holger was an honest mistake, I simply did not think it through and messed up. I apologized for that everywhere possible and am more then willing to do so again. I was wrong, I made and mistake and I am sorry. If that is not enough for you I simply do not know how what to do.

mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

This morning we decide to add repaint forums for all the prolific repainters so they can show their work and support it where needed. I will add those this weekend. If that's too late for you that would be a big shame for everybody. Our customers should not be punished because of a mistake I made.

And to be 101% clear. Holger had nothing to do with all of this, he probably feels worse about this then I do.

As I wrote in my previous post , if DetCord removes his American paints I have to do the same as they were a joint venture between us .

As for being too late , if that was the case I would have stopped posting / uploading here last November . As i wrote in my PM ( to you ) last year , I am not a spiteful person and have proved that by still uploading repaints . Why else would I spend my free time painting the Airbus ( X , Extended and now A318 / 319 ) in the first place ?

When i read of the closure of the repaint topic and the reason for it my reaction was the same as DetCord in that our " work " was in some way not good enough .

We cannot " force " customers to download our repaints but looking in the downloads section seems to show that at least some do appreciate them ( although feedback would be nice ) . I could of course be totally wrong and the paints are no good and if that is the case so be it .

I can understand if it was a honest mistake, but it just did not initially appear that way, at all. It seemed like a very disingenuous move fraught with favoritism and to be quite honest, I was taken aback by it. But again, if it was a honest mistake as explained, then I do hope John and DetCord will stay around. I've attempted to email him but he hasn't replied. He is in the military so that might explain why. As a former member of the British Armed Forces myself, I understand free-time often isn't.

Personally, I do hope that since American Airlines was kind enough to supply the info that these absolutely brilliant repaints will still be available for community use.

It would be a shame to have what is obviously a huge amount of work by talented artists go to waste.

The DetCord/Glanville AAL repaints are the only thing I fly with.

It wasn't actually a mistake, it was just that I did something without thinking it through (okay that of course is a mistake). But keep in mind that Holger is not just a repainter, he is part of the development team and his liveries are in the product we sell. He has his own forum in the section for the Airbus Extended for years (http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/forum/517-aerosoft-airbus-x-extended/) because of that.

I just hope that John accepts my apology and we can move on.

The issue has been resolved and it appears to have been a honest mistake. The apology, whether needed or not, was a step in the right direction in my opinion. This wasn't me being a drama-queen as some of the frustration prior to this stems from previous incidents involving other prolific contributors and their treatment, which is why I made the initial post to begin with. At the time, I had already been counting the nails in the coffin so to speak, this appeared to have been the last one. I'd like to thank Emi and Mathijs for being completely open and candid during our discourse.

I hope the trend continues.
