Nyxx 92
P3D v2 was not right, P3Dv2.3 > is "the" flight sim to use. It puts FSX to shame, the only reason I still use FSX and its a big one, PXXG don't work with P3D, when they do like many other I will bin fsx.P3D is the future of flight sim'ing

P3D is the future of flight sim'ing Agreed, but guessing from many posts on this forum I think that an adequate AES port to P3D is also necessary. Nyxx 92
AA needs sorting, SLI, 64bit(one day!), Ezdoc or a new version of it, AES, PMDG, RealAir, and a big one....AI trafficAll need sorting. My traffic version or UT version for P3D would be an instant buy.Still it will all come in time..

P3D is the future of flight sim'ing P3D is still a 32 bit exe and eventhough pimped by LM it isn't the future as long as it isn't a 64 bit exe which uses the hardware to it's full potential ... just my 2 cents
Emi 5161
And keep in mind that doing a 64bit version will brake compability will ALL addons. It won't simply be easy to port them over anymore then either. Basically if a 64bit P3D is done you'll have to start from 0 with addons again. KAPTEJNLN 237
The other qustion is also if P3D ever would be for normal simmers as curently it´s for profecional traning use or pilot student.. even the license seems a bit wired because fr profecional use you might want a fully certifyeid simulator and most student then can use it as a learning tool whit in some limits.. as FSX was far from real and P3D I dont think they improved the missing parts some pilots i talked whit said was missing.. As if i understand it right LM is never allowed my MS to sell for normal simmers as they bought the comercial rights.. A bit sad and I realy strugling to find out who they want as costumers, as they keep promotions of add-ons that is far from all of them for traning but still say it´s not for Personal Consumer Entertainment as they say, I just don´t se a sim as Entertainment but thats just mee.. but it´s like LM plays 2 roles want normal simmers and say in license they do not as thats the agree ment but still thats the impression you get.. Emi 5161
Basically I would say it is like you said. LM is not allowed to sell it for entertainment purposes, therefore they do the student version. They even say themselves that anyone who is interested in simming also studies how to fly and therefore anyone can buy it. It's really just about getting around that annoying licensingproblem if you ask me. That's just a personal opinion though and I don't have any inside informaiton. Otherwise the General Forum seems more suitable to me, I need to know what our latest customers are using. If we put this in General we would get a lot of customers asking us why FS2004 was not included, lol. For now I just need to get an idea what the percentage of P3D customers is. Chemanuel 3
I own several, Xplane, yuk!, Prepa3d is just FSX improved and with a different GUI, I don't like it. Both are 32 bits applications. I fly FSX SP2, looks great!, works great, good frames I'm happy.
gavr 2
Using the A319/A318 in P3D and am achieving a steady 25 fps at most airports with reasonable scenery settings and no AI. I have to say I'm amazed at the performance!!! Give me AES for P3D and I'll be in my utopia!

Nyxx 92
Well it looks like around 40% use P3D 2.X, 64bit and licensing aside, it's being worked on all the time and they listen to us, the fly sim community. When was fsx last updated? It might be basically fsx but its really on a different level.Clouds and cloud shadows alone are worth the price. Its the best shot we have at the moment imo. If I load the same airport, same time same weather, one looks old and one looks stunning. imo P3D is the feature even if it's not 64bit. That would be starting all over again but a price worth paying. Until that day imo P3D is the best we can get. Fsx is still great ofc but... tup61 185
P3D v2.4. Love it. I do have to turn down almost all settings a lot though in order to maintain an fps around 30 with the Airbus because with this plane I fly a lot near large airports and cities and that kills performance, even on my brand new super rig. When flying GA I always fly in rural and bush area's which are much lighter on the fps so for instance extremely dense autogen is no problem there. But right now I have to set autogen 'all the way down' to Normal! Luckily it doesn't matter too much because I am flying high almost all the time anyway. And in the case of the Airbus I rather fly with smooth fps than with a lot of eye candy. (Makes me wonder how things would have performed on my old PC...!)
