Aircraft Initialization Failure

Hi everyone,

I tried to install a VA's livery today. I got this error message when I started FSX: "Aircraft initialization failure

de Havilland Canadian DHC6-Q300 CXA"

Their instructions were to add the texture folder to the aircraft's folder (I chose the 'WHEELS' folder), then change the aircraft.cfg file. That didn't work.

So, I sniffed around...and I came across this:
http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/70584-guidelines-for-uploading-repaintsliveries/

I followed the directions, and the livery manager said: "sorry, this file could not be installed!"

The new .zip file I created is attached. What am I doing wrong?

Very oddly, the amphibian version worked perfectly as per the VA's installation instructions (not using the livery manager). But the regular wheels version will not work at all. Can I have some help please?

Hi Swess,

I had a look and apparently the CFG snippet is not correct

This is the default Twin Otter from the wheel version aircraft.cfg:

[FLTSIM.0]
title =Aerosoft DHC-6 Series 300 Wheels
sim =DHC-6.300.W
model =4bladewheelcargo
panel =
sound =
texture =DIVER
kb_checklists =
kb_reference =
atc_id =D-IVER
atc_parking_types =RAMP
ui_manufacturer ="de Havilland Canada"
ui_type ="DHC-6-300 Wheels"
ui_variation ="Businesswings D-IVER"
ui_typerole ="Twin Engine TurboProp"
ui_createdby ="Aerosoft"

This is yours:

[FLTSIM.X]
title=de Havilland Canadian DHC6-Q300 CXA
sim=DHC6
model=300
panel=org
sound=
texture=CXA
kb_checklists=dhc6-300-wheel_check
kb_reference=dhc6-300-wheel_ref
atc_id=CXA###
atc_airline=CANADIAN XPRESS
atc_flight_number=###
atc_parking_types=RAMP
ui_manufacturer="DeHavilland"
ui_type="Dash 6-Q300"
ui_variation="Canadian Xpress (Aerosoft)"
ui_typerole="Canadian Xpress"
ui_createdby="Canadian Xpress VA"
description="Canadian Xpress DeHavilland Dash 6-Q300\n\nCanadian Xpress Livery:\nMarc J. Wheeler (CXA001)\n\n"

As you can see the sim folder is wrong, the model folder is wrong, and the panel folder is wrong.
Are you sure this is a livery for the Twin Otter Extended?

I suggest you go back to the source where you got the livery and ask.

[EDIT] Finn was faster while I was typing :)
