Eduard Gasull 258
yeah i think the same but i wouldn't land in that direction of course its easy to say if you are not in this situation!
Alaex 145
Nice to see that nobody got injured. But i have to say: there were so many open fields... why landing in direction of some trees? Not very wise.
Miksu77 56
Well, here the aircraft is maybe injured instead of humans which is acceptable. It's very hard to say afterwise what would have been better spot to land. Maybe instructor run out of time to make decisions about the spot etc... Chris Bell 144
its reported that the engine immediately lost power and started dipping (second 30 into the video) from there; 30 additional seconds pass before they know they will attempt landing in the field there wasn’t much time to make much decisions from there other than stick to landing it’s hard to see the surrounding to judge why he opted this field and not the other whatever decisions he made; saved both their lives that day both occupants walked away without a scratch on them the aircraft is reported to suffer minor damage at the tip of the wings
KAPTEJNLN 237
Well it´s true that we all easy can analyse afterwards, just one thing to have in mind. even there are many other spots, you stil have to land in to the wind as best as posible thats not changsed just because of a emergency.. and then there might be better spots, but if you don´t have the altitude you can´t fly there and make a 180 degree turn or what ever it might be.. one of the golden ruels as pilot is to fly the aircarft and follow the book whit in the safety factors, and do whats required to save your self and others.. Now this is the case trees at the end, I have a good ex. from the realworld as well, when I was at a flying school a student say what do you do at a given airport here in denmark if you get engine stop during VR. at the end of the runway there are trees. simple keep the aircaft on the ground and brake and cut the wings if nessesary to protect your self.. PS. it´s not all there is lucky to do a backwards landing like the instuktor also said he has seen.. the aircraft got to climp profile and did a backward move so he landed again like in reverse. the pilot was quite luck.
