Mega Airport Brandenburg

Recommended Posts

Hello, I purchased and installed the above airport today. I use Navigraph for all my Charts etc., but when viewing charts they only refer to Berlin Schonefeld with only one runway RW7 recipricol RW25. I realise this airport is an expansion (as far as I know) and Brandenburg is part of Schonefeld but this does not reflect in Charts at the present time making this purchase not practical at this time. I may be wrong but please clarify the situation. Gigabyte. (Richard Welsh).

And this is correct. As the new part of the airport is not open until now, the new rwy 7R/25L is not available and there are no published charts/procedures available. And because of this real life situation the Configurator for BER allows you to use it in 2 ways.

- only the "old" part is open, the new buildings rwys etc are there, but can not be used, eg. there is a fence around the new part.

- both parts are open like in the future, means that the ILS is working and you can go there by handflying without procedures.

So what you get is as real as it can be. and your statement that the purchase is not practical is simply wrong. ;)

Hello Otto, This discussion is like a fruit cake without the fruit. I simply do not understand how a developer can produce a product so half baked as this one. There are two runways but only one of them operational and the rest protected by a fence. Its totally laughable and I am afraid you are biased. We will say no more. Gigabyte (Richard Welsh)

Looks like you didn't get the point here, Richard.

The south runway has not been opened yet in real world. Given the fact it's physically there and usuable is certainly laughable but that's the real world situation here. The scenery is giving you the option to open that runway without restrictions. You can switch it on and off to your liking. That's a fruit cake with some fresh fruit and a nice topping.

Bests,

Sascha

Now guess how the situation at the real BER is right now :D

There a reason why we already say "Niemand hat die Absicht einen Flughafen zu errichten" (English: Nobody wants to build an airport; adapted from Walter Ulbrichts "Nobody has the intention to build a wall" shortly before building the wall at the borders of the DDR) ;)

It definatly is ridiculus what they're doing there at the real airport, but really, I wouldn't fly to this airport if it would only show the BER airport as it is planned to be in around 10 years or so....

Sorry, that I comment this...

If I did not overread it, it has never been sayed that the Runway isn't available for Aproach... It was sayed that "We will be able to fly BER before it was released in real World" and that should include the possibility to land there... And than there were Special Charts... For What is the Option in the Scenery-Manager?

Don't understand me wrong, The Scenery with his Grafics, Performance is absolutly Cool and I like it... But it's a very strange Point..

So nobody's able to land on the Southern runway without RW navdata?!? Now, that is laughable! :chairfall_s:

Fly the raw data, create custom waypoints in your FMC or just conduct a visual approach - you have been pretending to be pilots in armchairs after all!!!

(EDIT: And I've beaten Sascha to it.)

Of course it's available for approach once you activate BER (default setting). There are ILS frequencies and a VOR and it's used at each ILA air show without special approach procedures available in real world FMC's. So if real world pilots are able to approach an airport without any SIDs and STARs available, why shouldn't we be able to do the same in the sim?

Sascha

Hello Sascha, Thanks for your contribution but in view of the controversy this product has brought, I think LimeSim should go back to the drawing board and Think Again. I would not mind betting that LimeSim will never develop another airport like this one again. Regards, Gigabyte (Richard Welsh).

I purchased and downloaded the Brandenburg file twice this morning and got the following message each time I tried to extract:

"Windows cannot open the folder. The compressed (zipped) folder AS-MEGA-AIRPORT-BERLIN-BRANDENBERG.zip is invalid"

Any suggestions on how to open? Thanks! Dennis from Pensacola FL, home of the Blue Angels
