Wow, you catched me :)

I first thought, I dont need the new Twotter, i am total enthusiastic with the actual one. But, after i see all the new details, the new technic, the way the engine management works - It´s like a good restaurant without hunger, the moment you see the wonderful plates and smell the nice aroma - you call for the waiter :)

Without bragging I'm sure that You will regard the old Twin Otter as being real old once You can compare it with this one.

I´m not bragging cause all the kudos goes to Stefan Hoffman with his state of the art modelling and texturing. We are not talking technical developement here, but pure uncompromised art, but still with high focus on FPS.

Sorry if the question was asked before, but is it the same sounds set as the old one or you've built a complete new sounds set for this one. ?

Best regards

New sound set.

Just a suggestion. Why don't you guys get Chris Petersen of Turbine Sound Studios to do the sound set? If you've got access to the bird, just have him come over and do his thing. Have you heard his King Air turboprop sound sets????!!! Pure genius!!! He even got the prop feathering sounds perfect in his HD version. The start sequence in his first King Air set is unbelievable! Absolutely stunningly accurate. Just a thought.

Cheers.

Hi Spike,

Are you a pilot yourself? Do you have any juicy Twotter stories to share with us?

No I was aircraft engineer and spent most of my time fixing the twotter and 748. That being said I did spend a month flying around with a twotter; we started in Iqaluit and flew to Thule Air Force base in Greenland. From there we did resupply missions to the Kee Bird B-29 recovery efforts, our crew was there when an onboard fire destroyed the aircraft during a test taxi on the frozen lake surface. After that we travelled up the west coast to old Thule and did fuel caching for helicopters doing survey work. That was great fun especially flying around in the fiords trying to find a place put down and off load fuel, during marginal weather. We eventual worked our way up to CFB Alert then back down to Eureka and eventually Resolute Bay. It was a great once in a life time trip. I had hoped to follow it up with a trip to Antarctica, but never made it on to one of those missions.

Hello,

Really look forward to your Twin Otter.

As a propeller specialist, I would love you accept to mount mine on your wonderful machine, I would be very honored to give it to you for free.

For example, here is my Hartzell HC-D4N-3P propeller model. It's as accurate as it gets, I got support from Hartzell propellers ( from Piqua, USA ) to made these very accurately.

I asked Finn about that via PM, he told me maybe I should post those shots here for their 3D modeller see them, and maybe accept them

Can do any type for you, low or high poly, the 3 bladed version ( HC-B3TN-3D ) etc etc

Let me known I would be very pleased to do so,

Valentin

Jeez! Nice airscrews! Ohh Stefan.... Question. How hard would it be to integrate these beauties into the model at this stage of development? He's even offering them for free!!!! Valentin, you are incredibly talented! Prop expert is an understatement. Say, do you have the Raisbeck engineering quiet props too?? Those honeys on the Twin Otter..... Iyapapaya....

Cheers.

Thanks Aeromastro

I can do any propeller you want, I'm really a propeller enthusiast and lover, these pieces are so elegant when well done ;-)

Already did various prop like the WWII era Hamilton Standard 3 and 4 bladed ( Corsair, DC-3,B-17 etc... ) Sumitumo ones for the Zero, Sensenich Fixed pitch for the DR400 etc etc

If I have sufficient datas or pictures about a particular prop, I can do it, just let me know, I would be pleased to make as any props as you guys ( or anyone ) need, I just love doing that !

If you, Twin Otter developers, agree, please let me know so I can start working on these, would love to do so !

Cheers,

Valentin

No it's not off-topic, as you virtual pilots, by learning new things everyday, will be better Twin Otter pilot when it's released ;-)

To be a better Twin Otter pilot I reread the 'Transition to Turbopropeller Powered Airplanes', chapter 14 of the Airplane Flying Handbook.

Highly recommended!

Nice Eric, already saw that some times ago, really well made, simple and clear !

It's shame our DGAC ( equal to FAA in France ) don't release that kind of info...

Thanks mate !

Hi Dag!

We are working on high speed on it behind the curtains here. The exterior model has progressed very far already, what takes many hours currently is the riveting. As this time the overall texture resolution has grown a lot, the rivet layout must be displayed like in the original. That means around 60.000 of them in total to be placed on this bird. In general modern addons get more and more detail texturewise and that means also that more time and work needs to be invested. But i think there will be shown something the next days.

Best

Stefan

Cool, thanks for the info Stefan, this sounds real promising ;-)

Been doing a few small test on the aircraft this morning and want to show the very high degree of texturing and modeling we (or rather Stefan) is doing. I have not seen better. System wise the development is going on very smoothly, this is really a small airliner and not a GA aircraft in all aspects. Handling the engines certainly takes some practice!

I am speechless, bravo Stefan!!

The problem is that the polycount needs to be correct in comparison with the rest of the model.

Not to offend anyone but: I would rather like to have the bird sooner with "normal" props then have it (much) later with these high detailed props. Especially since I will hardly see them standing still ...

No problem Mathijs !

I said I can make them how you want, give me a max poly count and I'll build them accordingly. If you need them quick, I can work hard and give them to you next week.

Please let me know
