Some months ago, we saw an image in the preview forum that showed the nude, grey framework of our Bronco. But we already knew in that moment, that Bronco X will become something special for all flight simmers. Now we are very close to release and we show you the final images of the North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco in our forum. Just have a look an and be impressed as we are. Due to the complexity of the systems this is an ideal aircraft for people who like to move from the simple general aviation aircraft to more complex aircraft with detailed systems.

Release is planned for Thursday Dec 22

Bronco feature list
  • Some of the best 3d modeling ever done for FSX
  • Highly realistic modeled Garret T-76 (Honeywell TPE331) engines (we think this is the best representation of turboprops in FS so far)
  • Realistic start-up sequence with propeller start-latches and engine instrument readouts.
  • Realistic in-air restarts possible (normally not possible in FSX).
  • Custom propeller animations.
  • Hot and hung starts (clearing engine after a hung start possible) .
  • Engine failures due to over torque or overheat.
  • Engine flameouts due to icing when not using continuous ignition.
  • Working fire extinguishers.
  • Electrical system fully custom coded with electrical load calculated for every consumer.
  • All aircraft lights are dependent on correct electrical setup.
  • Gauge needles vibrate due to uneven ground and aircraft vibrations.
  • Airspeed gauge needle vibrates close to stall speed.
  • Lots of animations like oil cooler doors, Ram door, canopy, windscreen wiper etc..
  • Smoke effects for engine fire, hung engine and smoke generator on left engine.
  • Fully working TACAN radio and additional modern COM2 radio
  • Fully functional Becker BXP 6401 transponder
  • Custom developed GPS with map mode, direct to mode, cursor mode, nearest station mode, hsi mode
  • Unique Checklist Gauge with the option to let the checklist do the required actions.
  • Engineer station gauge to visualize the electrical system state.
  • Hundreds of nonstandard sounds, you will even hear the airframe groan when it is under G-load.
  • Created with the great support of the OV-10 Bronco Association, German Wing.
  • Highly realistic flight mechanics (several test flights were done in the real aircraft to verify the simulated model). Stalls and spins fully possible.
  • Highly optimized for the best possible frame rate. Most gauges are in the modeldef.xml and there is only one VC section defined.
Images by Nick Churchill as always.

Intital release version is the german 99-32 only.

A few weeks into 2012 an update will be released with both military and civil versions, but why not learn the systems during the Xmas holidays ;)

The launcher is optional, no need for online registration, but of course using it does make things easier as it will tell you if there updates etc.

Here is is... I tried to keep it as print friendly as possible. Should all be readable if you print two pages on one sheet.
Tomorrow I will also have a tablet formatted version ready.

Do check out Appendix B, I never done anything like that and like to know if it is something you people appreciate.

Question regarding engine sounds.
Were they recorded from the Bronco?
From the video made doing the engine start, the start sounds like default turbine sounds.

The sounds has been recorded from the real Bronco, but the FSX sound engne is rather weak playing them 100% right.
Another issue is that FSX only knows about free turbine engines and not the fixed shaft (geared turboprop) the Bronco has, so startup ans shutdown is not played well.

We hope to make it better in the 2012 update if possible.

Thank you Finn for the answer.
I understand FSX is screwed up with doing the turboprops justice :)
I look forward to the release. Merry Christmas to you and to all.

No there isn't. It would detract from the model's performance which is optimized to give outstanding frame rates.

VC rain effect disappeared with FSX. Adding rain effects in the FSX VC requires technics that would has a major impact on framerate - at least if it had to look real.
