marvic 183
I was wondering which airlines in the world turn off the strobes, beacon and landing lights after wheels up in the day? Seems quite silly to turn off lights close to an airport and reduce chances of other aircraft seeing the aircraft.
Deputy Sheriffs Herman 1591 Posted July 22, 2018 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted July 22, 2018 In the U.S., the FAA encourages certain practices collectively known as "Operation Lights-On." See the link for a high-level summary. As you seem to know, each air carrier has procedures approved/accepted by their government regulatory agency that their flight crews are required to follow. Within the US, every carrier I've done cockpit en-route inspections on as an FAA operations inspector (retired now) at a minimum followed what's in the link. Some turned landing/taxi turn-off lights on or off as appropriate at 10,000' MSL, others at 18,000.
