PFPX Route Database

Hi.

It seems some of the routes in the data base are old and do not make sense.

For Example:
LLBG -- LCLK DepRwy 26 ArrRwy 22

The correct route is :
MERV1H MERVA UB17 VELOX B17 BOSIS LCLK22

The Approach should be using ILS 22 with Transition through BOSIS which creates a DME ARC.

The issues are:

1. Unable to select Transition in the Route Editor.

2. The default LLBGLCLK-MFC route is incorrect:
MERV1H MERVA UP68 APLON UM32 PHA PHA1C

How do PFPX updates the route DB? (I am aware of Waypoints updates when a new AIRAC is published.)

Thanks
Dekel

You are being asked on every AIRAC cycle update if the stored routes should be updated (if possible).

Or you simply ignore the routes database and use PFPX for what it is there for: calculate routes for you ;)

Personally I have never used any of the stored routes in the database. As a matter of fact I deleted them all.

PFPX does not automatically update the routes, it is for you to re-plan and save them.

That depends on date and time of departure, MERVA may not be available.

PFPX does not implement approach transitions

I actually update the route DB every AIRAC cycle, but the DB it self is very old, If PFPX cannot give me a correct route and I need to create it myself then what is the point of the tool with regards to route planning?

shame, For a tool at this caliber I would expect it will.

PFPX is an advanced planning/scheduling/despatch tool.

You do not update the route database by installing the AIRAC data.

PFPX can perform a check of the route database for AIRAC compliance and notify you of routes which no longer match the new cycle.

You can then re-plan as save them as required, either by manual or several automatic route finding options.

Does the approach transition form part of a flightplan ?

PFPX is a route planner in the first place. The ability to store routes also in a database is just an additional feature.

What would you do if you want to fly a route which is not ready stored in the database? Searching one online?

That's exactly what PFPX is there for: planning routes. It doesn't matter if you have a route already in a database or not.

What if your previously stored route was only valid on Mondays before noon due to some constraints? By re-planning a route the moment you need it you will make sure that all constraints will be incorporated properly.

Like in your above MERVA example.
