Hopping aboard Japan Airlines Flight 228 for our continuation to Tokyo before commencing the Pacific Island-hopping portion of our journey.  This flight will actually be operated using a JAL Express E-170.  We had wanted to take in the sights along the way by going low and slow in a Cessna 402 but the we couldn't convince the authorities to allow what is basically general aviation traffic into the busy Kansai International Airport.  Weather is cool and pleasant this morning; expecting good weather and a stiff tailwind along our entire route as we attempt to beat the rising sun into Tokyo.

The cross-Pacific island-hopping begins with a chartered United Airlines Boeing 757-300 which will take us to the Marshall Islands.  We originally wanted to take a 777 but had doubts regarding Majuro's ability to handle such a large plane and our insurance provider wouldn't cover it.  So we're stuck with a smaller airframe which just conveniently happens to be meeting near its range with full tanks for this longest of the cross-Pacific legs.  Weather is cool and cloudy with rain nearby here in Tokyo morning; expecting good weather along our route but the potential for stormy weather in Majuro as we arrive around sunset.

Today we begin the first of three straight (planned) 5+ hour legs as we make our way, rather circuitously, to San Francisco.  Today's destination will be Easter Island's, Mataveri International Airport; the world's most remote airport.  Today's flight will be aboard regularly scheduled LAN Chile flight 836, using an Airbus A320.  Takeoff weather this pre-dawn is warm and pleasant, expecting cool and rainy conditions at Easter Island.  The flight is expected to be smooth, although we are expecting a strong headwind for the latter half and perhaps some bumpiness in the final few hours as well.

We conclude our trans-Pacific journey today by catching a flight on regularly-scheduled LATAM Flight 836 to Santiago, Chile.  I had wanted to cut a bit off our next leg by landing in Iquique, Chile as the continuation onto San Francisco will require some backtracking, but the A321 fell just shy of the range required to travel around an area of restricted airspace off the west coast of Chile.  Therefore, Santiago it is.  Weather for takeoff is pleasant and breezy, expecting similar conditions plus fog upon arrival on the mainland.  (You also need not be an astute observer of detail to notice that SCIP received a major overhaul during our visit.)

Hey Sabertooth78!  We're about to go onstage along with the kids in the boy's band here in Buffalo!!  They're not terribly bad or good, they just have no clue of what music should sound like!   Frankly at their age, I had no clue either!!  I was just coasting along when a boy's band who also had no clue of what music sounds like either called The Beatles showed up and stole all of our thunder.  Since then I've learned to tell the difference in music and popular music.  So having never left my day job before I retired,  I manage to still do fairly well.

Tonight, tomorrow, and apparently Sunday as well, we'll do blasts from the past to our convention crowd here in Buffalo and Sue Ling will thrill them with her voice and her other attractions.

Sorry we couldn't meet up! Especially since I know this is your home turf!  I truly think if you were here you would enjoy our show!!  The manager at the Holiday Inn has already said he wants us back for the next couple of days. I've never considered myself a "Lounge Lizard."  But at this pay plus tips, I might change my mind and give up charter flying altogether!
