Mario Donick 271
Edit: What is written and shown in this initial post has changed by now -- scroll down to this post. Please login to display this image. Mario Donick 271
Please login to display this image. Please login to display this image.
Mario Donick 271
Hi everybody, from now on I switch to English, because I noticed there are so many new participants in this journey, and most threads seem to use English. As some others before me, I decided to switch aircraft. Initially I wanted to use the Panthera (as shown above, a really great aircraft), but now one of our own aircraft (vFlyteAir's Cirrus SR20) can show topography and terrain on its map, using the free TerrainRadar plugin (version 1.7, which should be available from its download page this weekend). Using the SR20 gives me the possibility to spend some time in our own creation, not for working, but for fun, something I can do only occasionally otherwise. Here I am having a short test flight near the Brocken (the highest mountain in the Harz, a region in central Germany): Please login to display this image. I will now re-paint this aircraft for the tour and fly it to London, so I can start the tour on time.

Mario Donick 271
Leg 1: London City Airport to Paris Le Bourget I started on October 2nd, 7:03 am (real time was 00:03). Especially the takeoff and departure was interesting, because I could see quite a lot of London. The arrival was a bit boring, because of the bad weather. I saw nothing of Paris yet, but I will do this before I continue the tour from Paris to Genova. Please login to display this image. Please login to display this image. Mario Donick 271
Leg 2: Paris Le Bourget to Genova (Italy) Finally arrived in Italy, but a long way to go, and I hope I'll be able to meet the deadline for Egypt. After takeoff, I decided to ignore the flight plan for a while, because I had to take some sightseeing pictures of Paris. Later, the flight was uneventful, although ATC (free 124th ATC plugin for X-Plane) sometimes drove me nuts with frequent vectors which would lead me away from my route or into mountains. Anyway, despite that and despite a very foggy Genova, we had a very pleasant landing and are now refuelling, to continue our journey to Brindisi. Please login to display this image. Mario Donick 271
Finally back at my PC and my X-Plane -- my wife and myself were somewhat "trapped" in Berlin due to the storm Xavier; no trains went back to our home town. So no progress has been made so far in this flight and other X-Plane related things, and my litte SR20 is still at Genova. Will continue the flight to Egypt very soon, though.
