Decided to do the flight with a PIlatus PC-12/45

- easy to fly

- range up to 1600 nm NBAA IFR (2200 nm for ferry flights!)

- quite fast 270 kts TAS cruising speed

- can take off and land nearly everywhere (2650 ft TO and 1830 ft landing)

availbable for P3Dv4

Route will be via Kamchatka, Alaska. Could make it till Hawaii without problams, but distance from Hawaii to the US coast isn't even in ferry configuration possible. Not sure about the possibilty to add an additional fuel tank.

Ok, got my ferry tanks and could add another 180 gal of fuel, which allows me a total flying time of around 9 hrs. So I will be able to cross the Pacific ocean via Hawaii.

Going via Alaska in the beginning winter would be too risky.

PC12 is a great aircraft, nice choice of yours !!

Crossing the Pacific via Midway and Hawaii is much longer than going north and what do you do in case of emergency above the sea... and the sharks ?

Of course, you know what ETOPS means : Engine Turn Or Passengers Swim !!

How big did you make the Aux tank and did you reduce the aircrafts empty weight to simulate removing the seats and interior? You can increase the fuel and range fairly significantly just by removing the interior weight of the aircraft and we do it quite often.

I added a tank with 180 gallons, but didn't remove anything. If you do not exceed the aircrafts MTOW, it doesn't make any difference whether you have loaded passengers and cargo or more fuel. and as these tanks are stored in the cabin and/or cargo compartment they also have no influence on the flight characteristics.

The only problem I see is flying long distance over open water with a single engine aircraft. I thought of flying a northern route Japan - Kamschatka - Aleutian Islands - Alaska, but skipped this idea due to possible bad weather conditions for a longer periode.

After having a closer look at Phileas Fogg's original route I decide to make some changes to my route to be as close as possible.

So my route from Port Said to Mumbai (Bombay) will be:

Port Said - Jeddah (Saidi Arabia) - Ambouli (Djibouti) - Salalah (Oman) - Bombay
