It's NOT a Boeing or Airbus....

When you never flown a CRJ or a similar aircraft you will find many things unfamiliar and even weird (Bombardier is a bit weird in many areas). It is important to remember that it's not an Boeing or Airbus. Don't assume anything. Follow the manuals and let them guide you. You will find the CRJ is behind Boeing and Airbus in ergonomics (for example how the light switches are strewn around the cockpit in an almost random way, see the image) but it's very much like a 1970 car. It works fine, you just need to get to know it.

Yeah, "weird" is a good word... In have flown your A320 for quite some time and then bought the MJC Dash 8. And my first tries were awful! It took me more than  10 minutes to search the parking brake or the trim (which was Cessna-like located on the Yoke)! Especially the Pedestal is so untidy, my room looks better :D ! But once you have some orientation in the flight deck, it is so nice to fly this beauty! And I hope, that the same will happen to me, when I fly your CRJ!!! But hey, it's a Bombardyeah (pronounce it in the american way and it almost sound like Bombardier)!

Don't know why you are showing us every light button. For me only the display brightness switches and the integral light on the central pedestal work.

yes I am kinda curious about that too, I am a bit disappointed that there is not light dimming, not a show stopper but I dont think there are any technical issues implementing dimming functionality,,,

Dimming functionality is a feature that the AS CRJ and Airbus series do not have due to price constraints and the believe that RW pilot do not fiddle around with them that much. As soon as a suitable setting is found we do not touch the lights anymore.

The CRJ has "character". It is kind of like my 1971 Volkswagen Beetle (my pride and joy) where some things are done in a rather "unusual" way. For instance, the pressurized air needed to spray the windshield washer fluid is obtained by a hose connected to the valve stem of the spare tire, (which, of course, is in the front of the car because the engine is in the back). Ah, a man with style [emoji4]  Vintage cars = best cars. Unfortunately I lack the mechanical abilities to keep one running myself.

That is one thing I always loved about the classic Beetle - it was very easy to maintain with just a basic set of hand tools and some common sense. The problem today is getting certain parts, but it is still pretty well supported by specialist vendors.

Yes, I know it's not that difficult, but I'm really not just left-handed but double-left-landed. Mathijs has an old MGB he's restoring (or has restored. I don't know how far the project progressed).
