When do pilots dim the cabin light?

Hi,

I would like to know when exactly pilots dim the cabin for take-off or landing. I know that this can differ from company to company, so it would be nice if you also say where you got your information from.

 

Is the cabin light already dimmed at the gate, when the passengers enter the plane? 

When do pilots switch the cabin light back to normal?

When do they dim the light again for approach? 

 

Of course we are talking about the night time procedures here.

Hi,

 

dimming the cabinlights is not part of the pilots job. That's either done automatically or controlled by a panel next to the 1L door by the flight attendants.

Ahhh okay. So the "INT LT" section on the overhead panel is just for the cockpit?
