- MegaAirport Zürich 2012, thanks for the nice sceneries.

After a marvelous week of recreation with great food at the French riviera we start our leg today for Zurich not the stnadard route via Milano but across the high mountains in the western alps.
17070501054120410615131464.jpg

Today the peaks of the western alps unfortunately are hidden under clouds.
17070501054320410615131465.jpg

Early in the morning when the sun is still hiding behind the hills in the east of Nice we are getting ready for departure. Lots of Easy-Jet airliners are parking on the apron.
17070501054420410615131466.jpg

Across the bay we recognize Cap d’Antibes along the coast of which we had been flying when arriving at Nice via the “Riviera” circle–to-land approach one week ago.
17070501054520410615131467.jpg

Climbing out of runway 04L.
17070501054620410615131468.jpg

Heading on runway direction at FL 010 short before turning right avoiding overflying the buildings at the eastern side of the airport.
17070501054720410615131469.jpg

Heading south to gain height before we make a U-turn right, overflying the airport towards the mountains in the northern part of the airport.
17070501054820410615131470.jpg

Heading northwest short before heading north.
17070501054920410615131471.jpg

Finally heading north when we have a nice and last view back across the bay of Nice and Cape d’Antibes.
17070501055020410615131472.jpg

Between waypoints IRMAR and VANAS we had to turn on the seat belt signs due to heavy turbulences over the mountains.
17070501055120410615131473.jpg

East of LFHZ, what a nice view at the Mont Blanc Massif.
17070501055420410615131475.jpg

At the western edge of the picture we recognize Lake Geneva.
17070501055720410615131478.jpg

On short final to runway 10. Watch the snow topped trees in June! Yes we had freezing temperatures in this region but this was in late April beginning of May.
17070501060120410615131480.jpg

Retarding on runway 10. At the horizon more snow topped trees.
17070501060220410615131481.jpg

Finally parking at stand H87.

This was a short leg via VOR ZUE.

Starting at stand H87, heading east for access point to runway 28.
17070501063420410615131484.jpg

Climbing out of runway 28 and still snow topped trees on 3rd of July at temperatures in the mid 20’s °C!

On STAR ZUE1D we make a left tear drop and return to Zurich-Klothen crossing the airport at FL070 before heading towards VOR ZUE.

17070501064120410615131488.jpg

On final approach to runway 10. If I find some spare time I’ll have to clean the scenery from autogen objects being dumped into the lake. Thank’s to Axel I know how to do this.
17070501064220410615131489.jpg

Taxiing back on the runway to the terminal at the western end of the airport.
17070501064320410615131490.jpg

I guess we are the first airbus landing at this small airport and taxiing on those narrow taxiways.
17070501064420410615131491.jpg

Finally we made it to our stand at the terminal. Only a short break and we are starting for our next leg at this day.

For this last to final leg of the Aerosoft Worldtour 2015 I can’t provide you with a flight route because EAFS – Andras Field is a “virtual” airport only. But the airport is listed in the FSX database and thus shown in the weather map by AS16. We have easterly winds at Innsbruck thus climb out the same route on which we arrived yesterday.
17070501081020410615131506.jpg

Next to us still no traffic to be identified.
17070501081220410615131507.jpg

Climbing out of runway 08.

Climbing out of the valley and the hills to the left and to the right of the valley.
17070501081420410615131509.jpg

After turning north when passing NDB RTT we turn left heading 270° towards waypoint KOGOL. All the way back when we arrived yesterday only at FL140.
17070501081620410615131510.jpg

Andras Field in sight at 11 o’clock, but not available on PFD, because not contained in the airbus database. We plan for a low level flight across the airport in runway direction, then a right pattern and at the end a landing at runway 27.
17070501081720410615131511.jpg

Climbing to FL060 after flying at low level over Andras Field.

Second approach to the airport, gear down.

On final approach to runway 27.
17070501082320410615131515.jpg

Landed at Andras Field runway 27, length 7,006 ft, elevation 2,555.3 ft.
17070501082520410615131516.jpg

Parked next to a C172 in old Andras Meridian Airlines livery, the plane I used to perform my first flight for this small but nice virtual airline. Interested to join? >>> http://www.andrasmeridian.com/
Now we’re looking for some old as well as new friends of this airline to prepare for some barbecue and drinks. :cheers_s:

See you hopefully for the final flight to Paderborn. For the meantime I wish you happy landings.

Guys, what airports are available (Aerosoft or other developers) that will work with P3Dv4? I've completely moved to v4 but there isn't a lot in the way of airports that are available for it. I don't want to have to do the last batch of flights with all default scenery.

Thanks for that. I saw that list already but i dont think it covers all the airports, does it?

I've a strong repulsion to installing P3Dv4 on this old machine, but you guys are tempting me.

The only addon I'm missing is the Aerosoft busses, but other than that, there's no reason not to change. A lot of developers have made their airports v4 compatible now. Aerosoft are a bit slow  with this, although to be fair they have a lot of airports.

Honestly, I wouldn't miss them too much as long there is sufficient other stuff available. However, I honestly think about other options an weather X-Plane could be an alternative. The reason is finally that I hate it to be tied to Microsoft's OS, as Win 10 is as snoopy as any concierge could be and it's quite hard to prevent it. Next year, before building a new machine I'll test this alternative for sure (likely based on Linux)..

This can easily be true. However, it looks like a nice bird.

Well, I have a fleet fitting for almost every civil purpose already, and until my final decision what to do in future I'm not going for any investment. Even my aged FSXA still looks not that bad if comparing the pictures here around. The only mess is really the 4 GByte restriction. Even my old rig doesn't cry badly for an update and I think it could be helpful waiting for reports how AMD's new flagship processors can handle the one or other sim-product.

To be honest, Axel, it all comes down to what's compatible with v4. For me, the biggest loss is airports. Most developers are working hard to get there. Aerosoft is behind (of course Aerosoft are putting a lot more effort in than other developers so it's understandable). The only aircraft I'm missing are the Aerosoft Airbus series and my Eaglesoft Cessna Citation X (which is fairly outdated anyway, and they are working on a new one). There is also plenty of other aircraft to look forward to. Pretty much every other addon I have works. Active Sky, Orbx scenery, ProATC etc. I've been on v3 pretty much since it was first released, and moving from FSX wasn't a huge deal, as pretty much everything (except PMDG) worked without having to pay again. Going to v4 was more of a challenge but I'm not sorry I made the switch. I'd advise anyone to do the same.

Fed up of these default airports. I didn't realise there was so few airports available for P3Dv4 lol. Even Rex's HD airports isn't updated yet. Thankfully my next stop at Djerba will be a bit less bland.

I wonder would it be safe to install those freeware airport you see on the web? Most of the FSX airports installed ok into P3Dv3, but with v4 being 64 bit, there could be problems, and I don't want to corrupt it.
