Hi guys,

While reading some of the above postings I got sometimes the bad feeling that I've missed the starting shot of a final race. Actually, I only finished today the flight to Valencia and up to now just the first of three stages to Nice.

Leg #128.4    LERE-LEVC (Valencia), PC12, 28 nm, 0:09 hrs, VFR RW12

The PC12 got some own ideas how to get from A to B and I a was a bit busy. No pictures therefore during the short flight.

Leg #129.1    LERE-LEBL (Barcalona), B732, 204 nm, 0:36 hrs, SOPE4B SOPET UN608 MATEX MATE2Y

After switching over to my B737-800, the rest of flight preparation took only a couple of minutes and soon we climbed out of RW12, passing the city...

2017-06-16_LERE-LEBL_01_AB.thumb.jpg.7633de3178f315cf41bcd157a444b8e7.jpg

... and its harbour.

2017-06-16LERE-LEBL_02_AB.thumb.jpg.bb6fd45eb4786c26e55a5805b2b7028c.jpg

Barcelona's cityspace in sight.

2017-06-16_LERE-LEBL_03_AB.jpg.thumb.jpg.5a5f42c174c6df81b6b4e1c45e51505f.jpg

Final approach...

2017-06-16_LERE-LEBL_04_AB.thumb.jpg.74f756929509d998f5f52c857b7ceca3.jpg

(Valencia cityspace and Barcelona are both Scenery Solution's XpressSim V2 - even with thousands of customised objects you can fly a PMDG without being afraid about VAS problems)

See you again.

Since I spend most of the time in our 'summer residence' (a static caravan with internet but without my flightsim gear) I've got some catching up to do during the short periods I'm home. This time only one leg.

Leg 116: LIEO to DTTJ, 485 Nm on FL250

Route: LIEO VAVAX Q125 KOVAS M732 CAR M733 OSMAR UA725 TANIT UM731 TUC UA411 MON UN157 RIMSA UG362 LIRMI DTTJ

Duration: 1hr56m   takeoff: 11:52z   landing: 13:48 (approximately, I forgot to mak notes)

Metar departure: LIEO 171150Z 05009KT 030V090 CAVOK 30/20 Q1013

Metar destination: DTTJ 171330Z 02007KT 9999 SCT020 28/19 Q1013 NOSIG

Takeoff was from RWY05, then the VAVA5A SID. A nice flight in outstanding weather.

2017-6-17_14-40-20-234.thumb.jpeg.2566c7fccc409c49b5330a7d683d5c53.jpeg

Approaching the coast of Tunesia

2017-6-17_14-51-52-353.jpeg

Over Tunis city

Shortly before the approach the wind was 360/6 and with RWY's 09-27 and only 27 with an ILS I guessed right that ATC would give me the 27 for an RNAV approach.

I've been on Djerba in real life once (in 1974) so I can't say "boy what has it changed through time here...."  :-)

It might take some time until I can make the next leg.

Until then....

@ Ruud,

nice pictures - scenery, clouds as well as the C-27J Spartan. Me too, I like her very much, somehow in my opinion she's looking like a giant baby. :D

BTW, congratulations for being first at the final destination except for the very last one. You even pushed Pasterke on second!

@ Pasterke,

don't worry being second, that's a very good score as well. And there will be another chance at the very final leg to Paderborn.;)

@ Axel,

I didn't hear the closing bells for this final challenge either. Guess this is the effect you can recognize when horses get back in the vicinity of their home stable. As soon as they smell their homebase you can't stop them anymore.:D

Wish you always happy landings!

Gernot

Before the majority of you already has arrived at the starting point of the very final leg and the therefore not only the end of this batch but also the end of this phenomenal Aerosoft WorldTour 2015 I think I better start posting my first flight reps for this ongoing batch.

Here is our flight report for the flight LDSP to LGKR which we concluded already on 05-May-2017,

LDSP NERRA UL607 LEBGA N732 PITAS LGKR / FL290

LDSP – Split
METAR: LDSP 050930Z 12004KT 080V170 9999 FEW060 18/11 Q1016 NOSIG
OUT:     09:25z

LGKR – Kerkira/Corfu
METAR: LGKR 050920Z 14006KT 9999 FEW018 20/15 Q1017 NOSIG
ON:      10:33z
IN:        10:38z

Add on scenery:

- ORBX-Free-Add-On-Scenery,

- greekislandsvol2.zip by Gianmarco Esposito, thanks for these nice sceneries.

The route for this first flight of the final batch follows strictly the coast lines of the Eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea.
17061405384720410615093989.jpg

Although or perhaps should I say because weather was fair, I was not yet back into routine for these flights, so I forgot to take a picture of the current weather map.

We had a nice time staying here for quite some time enjoying the beach, other interesting places as well as good seafood. We had been parking next to a TUI B737 and a Croatian Embraer?

Climbing out of runway 05.
17061405385020410615093991.jpg

To the right and to the left we had some weather cells, but with no effect on our route.
17061405385120410615093992.jpg

Reaching the isle of Corfu we had been advised for a visual approach to runway 17 which was identified by an almost rectangular shaped sidestep to the west in order to surround the hills north of Kerkira Airport.
17061405385220410615093993.jpg

Flying eastwards on our base leg we can identify the airport at about 2 o’clock while we prepare for the final right turn.

On final approach to runway 17.
17061405385620410615093995.jpg

We had parked at stand 8 next to airliners from TUI, Monarch, Olympic Airways and some other airlines.

One week later we started for the second leg of this batch of flights, the route of which led as across the Adriatic Sea Strait between Italy and Greece and then followed the coastline along the heel of the boot shaped peninsula of Italy.

Since we planned two more legs for this day we started early in the morning.

Here is our flight report for the flight LIBD to LSZA which we also concluded on 12-May-2017,

Instead of flying some of the offered alternate routes only, I wanted to touch all of the proposed airports. Thus the second flight today would bring us to Lugano a nice town in the Southern Swiss region called Ticino.
17061405372020410615093968.jpg

The airport charts for LSZA would show a maximum runway length of some 4429’, however, the maximum available runway for landing on runway 01 was only 4068’! We decided to give it a try anyway configuring our A319 at minimum weight possible for landing.
Later in the day a A320 from Air One a partner airline of Lufthansa joined us in front of the hangars. It looked like they had been short of parking lots near the terminal.

17061405372220410615093969.jpg

Weather conditions had turned worse compared to our first leg today.
17061405372320410615093970.jpg

Winds had changed in the meantime. We had been climbing out of runway 25.
17061405372520410615093971.jpg

Less than an hour into the flight about ten NM southeast of LIPY Falconara Mil all the sudden we lost connection to the weather server resulting in blue skies.
17061405372720410615093972.jpg

On our right side we have a glance at Lake Garda the largest lake in Italy and a popular holiday location.
17061405372920410615093973.jpg

Short after this we gain a view on Lake Lugano our destination for this flight.
17061405373120410615093974.jpg

Approaching Lugano Airport at the end of the sea.
17061405373120410615093974.jpg

On final approach to runway 01. Who the heck allowed to build this tall building short ahead of the threshold, grrrhhh?
17061405373520410615093976.jpg

Well we decided to ignore the buildingotherwise there would have been no chance at all to get our plane down on the runway. After a narrow U-turn we are taxiing back to the heavily crowded terminal area.
17061405373720410615093977.jpg

I bet there never had seen a B319 on this airport. A beautiful and busy freeware scenery by Joe Garcia.
17061405373920410615093978.jpg

Wish you all always happy landings

Been on a journey for the past 10 days or so.

2017-06-09 [122.a]: Ibiza [LEIB] to Barcelona [LEBL]

Eventually, it was necessary to leave the palm fronds of Ibiza and return to pick up the larger bird we had left in Barcelona.

The next day, we continued the recent pattern of leaving in the dark.  Barcelona very early in the morning.2017-6-10_20-26-3-180.thumb.jpg.e0f6c4908a1447a7ab111ebb22a33991.jpg

So early, in fact, that the Sun was not yet up and only reflecting light into the sky when arriving at Gibralter.

(Yes, my turn was a bit tight, but extending it for a better runway alignment was no great challenge.)

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
When I first passed over Faro, we were too high for a landing, so the controller told me to "go around."  I guess my circuit was a little larger than the standard.
[Slightly more seriously]  As it may be clear to anyone who has followed our reports, I do love the islands.  So, the wanderlust to make one final excursion was irresistible.  I took a tour of the Atlantic -- The Azores, Madeira and the Canaries.  (I thought about going to The Cape Verdes also, but there is only so much time.)
That road is really used.  They were still scuttling out of the way while we were lining up.  But, that was the last of them (until after we left, I guess), so there was no dodging needed.2017-6-11_22-28-3-950.thumb.jpg.af0f7fe1e590dcadcd5c82ff884ea64a.jpg
After a very long flight, arriving at Ponta Delgada at mid-morning.  (That is one long island, arriving from the East I kept wondering when the airport was going to come into sight.)
[[Simmer's Note: I was dogged by terrain elevation issues at a couple of these stops -- scenery conflicts.  Like runways hovering a couple hundred meters above the ground kind of thing.  I suppose I should get into the habit of checking each airport before flying into it, but that seems almost like "cheating.")
2017-06-13  Madeira [LPMA] to Porto Santo [LPPS]
2017-06-13  Porto Santo [LPPS] to Madeira [LPMA]
So, the next day the longer journey was postponed as a took a couple of quick flights over to the nearby Island for a stop at Porto Santo, and returned.
A little faster than I wanted to be, and the cross winds were giving me a little trouble ... with that tight turn in the visual final.  But, once again, adjustments were made, the landing was on the runway and no damage occurred to the airplane.2017-6-13_23-53-3-960.thumb.jpg.20fec4b60812c7ded74b657ea5da7614.jpg
From the pictures, it might seem like the same TAP Portugal bird had been there all along.  But, this one was readying, and left shortly after we did.2017-6-14_22-34-24-373.thumb.jpg.3121302103121aa98201df85be77cd09.jpg
This year (so far) we are getting a little reprieve.  It is only beginning to get hot in the day and lingering into the evening.  The time difference had me flying in late evening until around midnight, but it looks like it is time for me to make my yearly summer schedule switch to get up (and fly) in the early morning.
Hi guyz!
From a very very hot Toulouse (we have a beautiful 95°F today and a hundred is forecasted for tomorrow and on thursday too !!! At home it's mode "air-conditioning" ON!)
Leg 119 completed: LPFR-LERE
To Spain!
Flight route. Green, planned; Red, actual.
17062007025710968215103728.jpg
Saturday June 17th, 2 PM at gate 6, Faro international airport. We’re ready for a new flight, to Valencia suburb, more precisely to Requena airfield.
17062007030110968215103729.jpg
A minute in flight, and we are at 12,000 feet climbing to FL230. On our right is the large Gulf of Cádiz, and the river seen just ahead is the Guadiana River that marks the border between Portugal and Spain in this area. We are over the Algarve province of Portugal and, on the other side of the river, this is the Spanish province of Andalucia.  The city, on the Portuguese bank, is Villa Real de Santon Antonio, the corresponding city on the Spanish bank is Ayamonte.
17062007030410968215103730.jpg
Heading east, we are at our cruise altitude (FL350). On our right is the large Spanish city and harbor of Seville on the Guadalquivir River. This is the only river harbor in Spain. The discovery of America by Christopher Columbus profited Seville, as all goods imported from the New World had to pass through Seville before being distributed throughout the rest of Spain. A 'golden age of development' commenced, due to its being the only port awarded the royal monopoly for trade with the growing Spanish colonies in the Americas and the influx of riches from them. All merchants from needed to go to Seville to acquire New World trade goods. The city's population grew to more than a hundred thousand people in the 1500s.
17062007030810968215103731.jpg
Ten minutes later, we fly over Córdoba, also on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Funded by Romans, it was the capital of the Spanish Emirates after Muslims conquered the area.
17062007031410968215103732.jpg
We have begun our descent to our destination. We are at FL190, descending to 11,000 feet.  We fly over the hills of the Meseta Central … with a funny looking single cloud. This is the Spanish province of Mancha below, Madrid is just 200 km away. On our left, we see, in the distance, the city of Albacete and its airport (LEAB). This airport is shared with air force and named Los Llanos Air Base, an important hub for NATO air forces. On 26 January 2015, a Hellenic Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed into other aircraft at the base, causing an explosion which killed 10 people, including both pilots.
17062007031810968215103733.jpg
At 5,400 feet, we begin our approach to Requena airfield. We fly over the city of Buňol and its large windmill park.
17062007024710968215103725.jpg
Finale for runway 30, visual approach with a strong side wind. The runway is really short!
17062007025110968215103726.jpg
Parked on a densely packed apron at Requena airfield, after a 1-hour flight from Faro. The room for maneuvering aircrafts is not that huge and, the Learjet looks like some giant plane.
17062007025610968215103727.jpg
17062007032010968215103734.jpg
That's all folks! Enjoy and have great flights.
Philippe
2017-06-19 [124]: Faro [LPFR] to Valencia [LEVC], Spain
Faro has a number of interesting airplanes parked here and there.  As I was taxing out to leave Faro, I noticed what seemed to be some Alpha Jets in unusual markings.  As it turns out that was correct -- three Alpha Jets in the colors of The Asas de Portugal [Wings of Portugal] flight demonstration team.  But, there must be something unusual going on, because Wiki tells us that The Asas were down to only two pilots when they were disbanded in 2010.  (Maybe the third airplane was a standby.)  Anyway, this team was supposed to be stationed at Beja Air Base, about 60-65 NM to the North.2017-6-19_8-52-21-934.thumb.jpg.95419f558af659babd35ca83c58fbb49.jpg
When approaching community of Valencia, we passed nearby the embalse de Cortes de Pallás (a hydro-electric reservoir near that municipality).2017-6-19_9-45-7-119.thumb.jpg.2ac86700a22a2119d330d0a4693b8ef5.jpg
And, on the approach, I guess this must be part of the municipality of Vilamarxant.2017-6-19_9-55-13-654.thumb.jpg.487f1740c6216a3076a1c794b554b6ac.jpg
And, back on the schedule for this week at Valencia.2017-6-19_10-1-46-493.thumb.jpg.7df6ee18201ed42b0ca84871ea996b50.jpg
Well, Gernot, this horse is certainly smelling the home barn.  If it had not been for my Atlantic trip I would be farther along.  I think in the next two weeks I will also be ahead of schedule.
Weather map provided by ASN only does allow to enter routes manually using VORs or ADFs. Only when reading out loaded routes from FSX it would show also waypoints. Therefore at this point the route displayed is not yet matching with the real route flown.
Today there was unpleasant weather predicted with almost 100% clouds.
Hello again,
Here is the grand final of the next leg, I've reached Nice after a really short jump.
Leg #129.3    LFML-LFMN (Nice), B732, 92 NM, 0:24 hrs, LUC4B LUC DCT MUSNB ILS04L
After taking of and a right turn we are passing the city of Marseille.
2017-06-21_LFML-LFMN_01_AB.thumb.jpg.59136f469f56c50ba8e99d3e5cbbe99e.jpg
Passing Saint Tropez at just FL090. The marina is right at our Starboard.
2017-06-21LFML-LFMN_02_AB.thumb.jpg.7acccb6ff8cf24fa63fee75096922dfe.jpg
Approaching RW04L at Nice, Côte d'Azur. The City is visible in the background. I don't think that I'll stay too long. It's sunny and hot and Nice itself has a quite narrow and busy pebble beach, a crowded promenade bordering to a real beautiful boulevard with palm trees and some overwhelming jugendstil houses (e.g. Hotel Negresco) - unfortunately this alley is most of the time jammed. Furthermore during the tourist season you can expect each three minutes a plane approaching close to the shore usually the other way round than this morning. However, Nice is nice in April...:wub:
2017-06-21_LFML-LFMN_03_AB.thumb.jpg.8e822e4a63d46c5c33a430f05d4e25ed.jpg
(Both cityscapes, Marseille and Nice are XpressSim products, the airports are freeware and done by Ray Smith, available at Avsim and flightsim.com. UTX Europe v2 provides all vectorlines and Lanclasses)
See you somewhere. I think my next flights will be slow, but not too low via at least one Altiport (probably Courchevel) to Geneva before heading for Zurich.
