The last batch, back home to Paderborn. With a twitch, so read carefully.

We take off from Split, where we last met up. for those of you having VAS issues with Split, you could take Bol, Mostar or one of the other near airports. The schedule is:

5 may: Split to Corfu

12 may: Corfu to Bari ; Bari to Lugano or Bari to Milan-Malpensa

19 may: Lugano to Calvi or Milan-Malpensa to Calvi ; Calvi to OIbia

26 may: Olbia to Monastir or Olbia to Djerba

2 june: Monastir to Ibiza/Menorca/Mallorca or Djerba to Ibiza/Menorca/Mallorca

9 june: Ibiza/Menorca/Mallorca to Malaga or Gibraltar ; Malago or Gibraltar to Faro

16 june: Faro to Requena or Valencia

23 june: Requena to Nice Cote d'Azur or Valencia to Nice Cote d'Azur

30 june: Nice to Zurich

7 july: Zurich to Altenrhein or Zurich to Friedrichshaven ; Altenrhein to Andras Field or Innsbruck ; Friedrichshaven to Andras Field or Innsbruck

HOLD

Summer holidays and now just one flight remaining, from either Andras Field or Innsbruck into Paderborn.

I propose to do this flight together, online, on a later to set date and time.

My proposal is in a weekend: sunday september 3rd, 1200utc. I think this will allow most (all?) of us to join based on our respective time zones. Tooling to use is the easiest: JoinFS for the flight and TeamSpeak for the voice aspect.

This will also allow anyone to join and "bring us in".

the google maps route map has been updated to visualise above routes.

"Back to Greece!"

2017-05-05 [115]: Split [LDSP] - Corfu [LGKR], Greece

I must say, I was slightly disappointed with the surface winds on the morning of this flight.  I had hoped to continue in the direction of the arrival, to leave on runway 05 and pass near the city to see the palace.  But, it was not to be.

The river Neretva and the small city of Metković, in Croatia (to the left).  On the other side of the city is the border of Bosnia-Herzegovina.  The small lake and the area to the right is Herzegovina.2017-5-5_23-49-38-135.thumb.jpg.f2171fb67e64b467c3d3d9f6124edda4.jpg

Approaching the Bay of Vlorë, on the Albanian coast.  This area has been populated for more than 2500 years, and was important even in the time of the Roman Republic.  The city, Vlorë, itself was where Albanian representatives gathered in November 1912 and made their Declaration of Independence from the Ottoman Empire.
The darker blue and square-ish body of water is the large Narta Lagoon, a protected area.2017-5-6_0-8-7-596.thumb.jpg.54ad9c4aba8b02956e9ee891fb608f8e.jpg

On final, with the note that the RNAV approach is turned a few degrees from the runway extension line.2017-5-6_0-29-19-423.thumb.jpg.5bb19518e7fb15cd6916fea13cb08e63.jpg

Taxiing to parking.  Lots of airstairs, I am not certain there are that many parking places.2017-5-6_0-33-48-582.thumb.jpg.d5bb76ecc6c69b93af912c6ab5613655.jpg

HI there!

Going back to the Tour for the last batch of flights ... sigh!!!!

Leg 113 completed : LDSP-LGKR

Back to Greece!

Flight route. Green, planned; Red, actual.

17050907095310968215029161.jpg

Saturday May 6th, it’s 2 PM and we’re ready for this first flight of the last batch of Aerosoft World Tour. These two years and a half were gone so fast! At Split-Kastela international airport, gate 1, we prepare a flight to Corfu, a small flight today.

17050907092210968215029155.jpg

On our way to enter the active runway.

17050907092810968215029156.jpg

Climbing to 9,000 feet and turning for going southward. A last sight of Split airport and of Trogir and its dual harbor, one for sailboats and one for bigger ships. In the background, the long parallel ranges of the Dinaric Alps.

17050907093310968215029157.jpg

One minute later and heading southeast, we can see on our left the city of Split on Marjan Peninsula.

17050907093810968215029158.jpg

At out cruise altitude (FL290) over Adriatic Sea, we cross a traffic that is 1,000 feet below. This is an Airbus A321 of the Aegean Airlines.

17050907094410968215029159.jpg

Four minutes later, we cross another traffic on the same heading which is 1,000 feet below. This is a Boeing 767-300 of British Airways, flight 633 heavy from Athens to Heathrow.

17050907095110968215029160.jpg

Heading south, with the coast of Albania on our left. We see the large Karavasta Lagoon. This is the largest lagoon in Albania and one of the largest in the Adriatic Sea. The lagoon is cut off from the Adriatic Sea by a long sandy bar.

17050907085810968215029150.jpg

We have begun our descent to Corfu that can be seen in the distance, at FL190 descending to 17,000 feet over the large and recessed Bay of Vlorë, with, at its end, the Pahsaliman Lagoon. We see the houses of Pashaliman, its harbor houses the main Albanian Naval base that was, during the Cold war, the main Soviet naval base in Mediterranean Sea.

17050907090210968215029151.jpg

Maintaining 4,400 feet, we are in long finale for a visual approach to runway 17. Below are the houses of Acharavi on the northern shore of Corfu Island. In the distance, on our left, is the Albanian coast. The approach to runway 17 makes us fly over a 3,000-feet high mountainous terrain called Mounts Pantocreator. This approach is quite scenic!

17050907090710968215029152.jpg

Short finale for runway 17 over the Gouvia Bay. This visual approach makes us fly over Kerkira harbor with nice moored cruising ships.

17050907091310968215029153.jpg

Parked at Corfu international airport  Ioánnis-Kapodístrias at gate 2 after a short 45-min flight from Split. We had strong tailwinds so, most of the time, our cruise speed was about 580 knots. We have a week to spend in this splendid Greek island that, including its small satellite islands, forms the most northwestern part of Greece.

17050907091810968215029154.jpg

17050907095510968215029162.jpg

That's all folks, have great flights!

Philippe

Hello all,

Bach on track to go through the last batch crossing a bit over the south of Europe. Nice work Toby! It gives me a holiday feeling (being retired means that I have that feeling all the time, but hey, flying is fun).

Leg 113 (or whatever the count is): LDSP to LGKR, 315 Nm on FL210

Route: LDSP RILIM L862 BRD L995 TIGRA LGKR

Duration: 1hr 10 m   Takeoff: 12:20z   Landing: 13:31   Fuel used: 1103 kgs

Metar departure: LDSP 101200Z 23009KT 9999 FEW040 19/10 Q1013 NOSIG

Metar destination: LGKR 101320Z 26010KT 9999 SCT020TCU 22/12 Q1013 NOSIG

I have Ultimate Traffic Live active for the first time (AI at 10% because otherwise it drains processing power) and PF3 ATC as well. So, on the TWR freq I heard that there was an 'Austrian 485' in the approach for RWY23. It landed while I was starting the engines, so no waiting to backtrack the RWY. After takeoff the RILI4F SID. ATC sure understood what step climb is: 3000, 4000, FL60, FL100, FL130, FL180 and finally FL210.

2017-5-10_15-0-39-847.thumb.jpeg.9542f60ecdf3646d45e31f034956b1cd.jpeg

Oveflying Brindisi, Italy

The LGKR ATIS gave me RWY17 and that one is a bit narrow approach. If had followed the FMS it would have been a threshold base leg. Not my cup of tea in a Q400, so I asked for a 'pilot's discretion' and got it. Nice! On the VOR for the last part and then a greaser to please my PAX.

2017-5-10_15-43-8-642.thumb.jpeg.b709600086a3f216e7eb7bc2de3f2f4d.jpeg

A few days in Corfu and then for the next leg.

Cheers,

Dirk
