Impressive! Out of curiosity, how do you obtain data for that?

Tedious manual work taking hundreds of approach and ground photos as a reference. My initial plans were to do this semi automatically through UAV photogrammetry but obtaining a respective permit for a place like Lukla is simply impossible.

That is so cool.  Now this is a labor of love!   I will certainly have a deeper appreciation for the work involved when it gets released, thanks.

Did you buy stereo imagery and therefore make your own mesh using photogrammetry?

No, just done as Sascha said, with standard images and a lot of patience

Thanks for the reply Mathijs. I meant the whole scenery area, rather than the airfields themselves...?

It's a combination of various mesh sources that have been merged together. In addition to that all larger rivers have been baked into the mesh to ensure they are not flowing up and downhill.

We did purchase stereo imagery but only used it to combine the stereo sets to cover all slopes of a mountain with more details. We did some tests with photogrammetry for mesh terrain but the results weren't any better than the combination of other mesh sources.

Which Sim version will be released first?

Not decided yet but most likely Aerofly FS2, then FSX and P3D and X-Plane after that.

Superb increase in realism compared to the previous version of Syangboche airstrip.

Well done !

I'll be buying and reviewing the Prepar3D v4(.3) version the moment I hear it's out!!  I can't wait!  This is MY most anticipated scenery add-on currently!!!!  I LOVE what you all are doing...  Having flown into this airport a couple of times it truly is the one place I have desired to fly 'accurately' since getting really big into flight simming back in 1998.  With the sims today and the tech we have available to us. WOW!

This scenery is going to look staggeringly good in P3D V4.x.  Keep up the great work and previews.

Cheers, Rob.

This model and others are prepared to be animated in the FSX and P3D version. Aerofly doesn't support skin animations at the moment.
