Exporting Flight Plan and Wind

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded my computer and I just can't remember the path entries to export the route and winds to the proper places. I have FSX and use "C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X" as the main path. The flight plan location is set to

"<FSX \PMDG\ FLIGHTLANS\777" and the wind is set to "<FSX> \PMDG\WX". These locations make sense, but I keep getting "Can't rite to file" error messages.  Can somebody refresh my memory? Thanks

FSX was designed (along with it's folder structure) long before Microsoft splitted program files and program data from each other. And even longer before Microsoft introduced a protection for the program files, keeping them read only and also restoring them automatically if they are getting modified.

With having your FSX below the Program Files folder, all protections are in place which keep a lot of stuff from happening within FSX and it'S 3rd party add-ons. One could switch UAC off (not recommended at all) or start everything that is even remotely connected to FSX as administrator.

Or chose the easy way, and install FSX somewhere else. Then none of the above mentioned is necessary.

If at some point you are going to re-install your FSX you should think of installing it somewhere else ;)
