Svalbard landclass issue after update

Recommended Posts

After installation of the new version of Svalbard ENSB I see some serious landclass issues around the airport, where water is displayed in areas where it shouldn't be. See attached screenshots.

Other installed add-ons for the region: FTX Global, ORBX Landclass EU

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks,

Markus

Hey Markus,

Very strange. I can pretty much assure that it doesnt have anything to do with the patch, or the scenery for that matter. (As in FSX, the whole earth is actually drawn as land, and water is 'added' over it. Meaning something most likely has added it there. I for sure didnt.

1. First of, is Svalbard above your mesh+landlclass addons in the scenery library?

2. Which month are you seeing this in? Only one or more?

3. For troubleshooting, could you try the following:

- Save your position, ie. from the longyearbyen point of view

- Deactivate ORBX landclass EU in the scenery library -> restart the sim and see if the problem is still there

- Deactivate Svalbard X in the scenery library ->  restart the sim and see if the problem is still there

- Deactivate both and see if the problem is still there

Doing this should hopefully narrow down where the problem lies.

I included a pic on how the areas show on my system. I'm running FTX Global, Norway, and Vector.

Hi Joakim,

thanks for the swift response, highly appreciated!

When I checked the area again after I had written the post above - involving a fresh start-up of P3D - the issue was gone.

So today I wanted to check whether it was a one-time issue indeed and started P3D. The issue reappeared.

So then I thought let's try the same as yesterday, restart P3D and see if the issue goes away: It didn't!

Then I switched the season from Spring to Summer and all was fine.

So there seems to be an issue with loading the scenery, sometimes all is fine, and sometimes it is not. That is very strange indeed. Note that I didn't change anything within the scenery library between all these trials.

I'll continue to observe the area and see if I can spot a pattern here.

Seeing that 50% of times the issue does not appear I could assume that the problem neither lies with your scenery nor with ORBX. Oh well, the mysteries of FSX/P3D... wouldn't be the same without them...

Thanks,

Markus

The problem is definitely caused by the Orbx products.

I made the screenshots without the recent Svalbard patch:

P3dv3 with FTX set to Global (incl. openLC EU):

P3Dv3 with FTX set to Europe (incl. FTX Norway):

Time in both cases was summer

Glad to see I'm not the only one having this issue.

Otto, I'm not so sure about that. My screenshots show the issue occurring WITHOUT FTX Norway, it is Global and EU only. FTX Norway is NOT installed on my system.

I'll install the latest version and will see what happens.

The lanclass and texture file for Svalbard are in generell not very good, with green areas and trees while in reality there is not a single tree on Svalbard.
