V/DEV

It offers a vertical guidance like an ILS for non precision approaches, if you leave the LS button OFF then it appears magenta and guides you down, you can also enable APP on AP panel and it will display FINAL APPROACH orso, However it is not as accurate as ILS.

I think it works for NDB, VOR, RNAV.

Unfortunately LDEV is not modeled.

briefly ...

vdev is vertical guidance in a range of descent & approach modes.

if you select an NPA approach in the FMGS / MCDU (ie not an ILS approach), and after the approach phase is activated (either manually or automatically), VDEV (the brick) is shown beside the PFD vertical altitude ladder for vertical guidance ... in both managed & selected modes.

now if you also activate the LS display via the FCU (used for ILS guidance) on the PFD, you get a flashing warning / reminder that the approach you programmed is an NPA not an ILS ...hence turnoff the LS display arming !!

hope that helps .. ask more if you wish.

& ps, many NPA's (RNP"s / LPV's) today are as accurate as Cat 1 ILS but no mandatory autolands (yet) !!
